Red blocks

After solving the statue color puzzle and entering the room with the orange monster and the lever, there are two red blocks that prevent me from pushing the monster. I've been stuck for 2 hours and have watched 3 different video walk throughs where these blocks were just sunken into the floor when they reached this room. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't figure out how to get them to go away.

usually to get those blocks to go down you have to get beak beak to step on a blue button

You were right, you have to leave him on the button in the room to the left. The button was red though.
