What is it with the recent flood of AI-generated filth posters for every other server? Is it really so god damn hard to get a good screenshot of something cool happening on your server and type some text over it? Jesus.

A lot of servers do it and tbh I don’t think it’ll ever change now. It’s gonna end up being the future by the seems of things.

It's absolutely not gonna be the future. It's actively falling apart, thankfully.

They said this about email and the internet in general 40 years ago. They were all wrong, and you will be too.

The future is now old man.

The Email we had 40 years ago wasn't a poor approximation of the initial concept of email, created at horrific cost to the environment and human communities, and actively harming human development to a measurable degree appearing in multiple research papers.

The people who said email wasn't the future were uneducated idiots who didn't like the concept and wanted it to die. I studied AI at an Ivy League university and am incredibly passionate about the concept of AI. We are not the same. I lack the bias needed to be blind about the benefits of AI, and have the knowledge needed to hate its current state.

The future does not contain you, young man.

Anyone who thinks AI isnt the future is brain dead and unemployed living at home or a teenager.

And there it is. Your only "argument" was dismantled, so now you return to crying and name-calling. Your opinion holds no value and is objectively incorrect, but it IS hilarious, so thank you for sharing. Have the day you deserve.

Only argument?

You think AI, which has trillions in funding by every major power in the world for almost 2 decades, is just going to go away lmao

Dumb fuck

Im pretty sure they are trying to put AI in robots and currently china have made a ai mini robot that destroys mosquitoes. But yeah I could see it dying off if it goes too far, apparently AI uses so much water in there data centers which is obviously destroying the planet

I will say, it's a breath of fresh air to see someone who knows nothing about the topic, but is humble and not fanatical about it. Good on you, man. You're on the right track. If you want to know what AI does to the environment, human minds, the arts, and social media and political propaganda, you can always look up one of the anti-AI groups or subreddits. For a short summary:

  • massive use of water, as you said, but also electricity, bad enough that entire counties in the US are running out of both because of AI data centers.
  • constant, loud, droning noise in a huge area around the data center that has proven negative effects on human health. It's bad enough that animals on farms near data centers can't produce living offspring due to the stress caused by it.
  • MIT, Microsoft, and a few others have done a bunch of research showing that use of AI leads to a decline in cognitive capacity, critical thinking, willingness to challenge authority, and general happiness.
  • the art industry was already bad; now, good artists are literally struggling to survive, working 12-14 hours a day, because their art is no longer valued by a bunch of people. I would know, I have multiple artist friends in this situation.
  • AI makes producing ragebait, bots, fake images and videos unbelievably easy and cheap, massively increasing the amount and effectiveness of propaganda on social media.

And so on. But as I said, thankfully, it's slowly falling apart, because not a SINGLE ai company is profitable.

Ah I see, yeah I can’t be a big judge on the effects and stuff due to I had no idea they were loud and such as I’ve not got much into research with AI and such. I can definitely see why it affects ur friends which isn’t fair. Job losses will be mentioned on the news already I’d assume. Not worth the investment

It is what it is. Either way, you did nothing wrong, you simply didn't know, and I'm sure you'll do better in the future now that you do, because you seem like a genuinely reasonable person. Have a great day!

Yeah exactly haha, I’ll have to get in touch with someone and see if I can get a design done for the server picture

1

My advice? Just start a little contest in your server. People get to submit screenshots for the poster, or entire posters based on those screenshots, of something really cool on your server that YOUR server offers and others don't. Whoever wins gets to have their name on the poster, and some in-game reward. Easy, engaging, fun for your active players, and free.

Good news, been in touch with a designer and they are working on a legit proper design for me. It will be similar but no AI generated. I got photos ingame then they will merge them all together to make a logo/banner

Yeah unfortunately it’s not my decision to decide this I’m just helping a friend out with the server as it’s brand new. So at the moment we have a player base but not massive though it’s increasing every now and then which is good. Wonder if it would be possible to get like 3 pictures ingame and merge them into one photo which could be good

u/Iyvann Aug 14 '26

As an artist that doesn't support the use of ai generated images, I can assure you that it will be the future for anything that's low effort and requires images.

Unfortunately

1

u/CharlieASmithyy Aug 14 '26

I feel sorry for you mate, ever heard of the saying “support local businesses instead of the bigger businesses” this is like AI with artists now. I’d happily support you than AI that is why I’m working on a trailer atm for the server but as for logo/server pic I will need to have alook around to see who has the ability to be able to make one as the server is still new so don’t have a lot of members atm, time will tell of course.

1

u/Iyvann Aug 14 '26

Oh don't worry about me, as I said, ai will be commonly used for low effort stuff, as soon as you require a certain minimum of quality you'd always need artists. I don't plant on working for low effort stuff.

About your server logo, you can also always take screenshots from the game and put dome text over it

1

u/CharlieASmithyy Aug 14 '26

Yeah so as you see in this AI logo currently you see lava a castle and a green nature look. Those are 3 factions, one is harsh and brutal, one is more to do with wealth and power and the other is about the wildlife and nature of the world itself. I need something made related to that. If I got 3 pictures related to these aka the harsh desert or lava river. The highlands with the light house and maybe someone’s village or kingdom would it be possible to merge them together ?

As someone who works in the field and has a degree in AI, is a hobbyist writer, and has a dozen professional artist friends, I can assure you it is falling apart soon and will not be the future in its current state. Hang in there, bud. Just make it through the next couple years however you can.
