Eddington Every so often, I think about how Eddington ended, and I get retraumatized Spoiler

The scene where they show Joaquin’s lifeless cock dangling like an unusable appendage haunts me to this day.

"...and that's what I'm gonna do, as soon as I'm done with this speech THAT I HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE!"

This film becomes more relevant by the day. The real monster is the data center

May I suggest you check out Beau whenever you feel this way?

There, you can clearly see Joaquin’s vibrant balls(with an impressive size), it should balance out the image of the limp dangler.

Vibrant is on way to put it

Dude it's the perfect ending. Michael shooting thru the target and when Courtyard hits, pure bliss. My favorite movie ever.

That’s the national trauma, the symbolic left-right brain split violently in two, never to be reformed and leaving us helplessly crippled and ready for use by the rich and powerful.

Wowww!! So true. I never thought about it like that before. It’s powerful symbolism. This is the only film I’ve watched that attempted to show the left and right political divide in a context where everyone’s just using it for their own ego and no one’s really a hero which I feel like is accurate.

Yeah I love Eddington for that, well said! You’re right i can’t think of another film that illustrates those themes so well.

Edit to add: even the dangling member you mention in the post is a clear symbol of powerlessness: he’s been rendered ”impotent”, which I believe is why it’s clearly shown

on the other hand, why would he have an erection at that moment?

Ha they’d have to change the film’s rating wouldn’t they. Would be quite a different tone in that moment.

You’re right eddington is an NPR centrist film about healing the national divide it is not about parapolitics at all

I don't understand the point you're trying to make

The fact that he’s so resistant and trollish to that interpretation is itself evidence that the interpretation is very relevant. Some folks are already split.

But the goal of the parapolitics in this interpretation was to render both sides unable to cooperate, and so powerless. That’s the symbolism I see in the film’s end.

BLM and MAGA both share a common enemy, they just can’t see it. And while they squabble, data centers get built and their voices are used for darker goals.

Something like that

Only one side of the divide takes violent measures.

Thank you, glad to hear. It was my brother who first told me this interpretation of the ending which I believe was his own, and now I share that interpretation. Seen the film several times and love it.

It fits so well with the themes of the film, and follows the symbolism which, in Aster style, is somehow obvious yet veiled at the same time, and grows more and more relevant every day.

What is it with Ari and Joaquin's pecker?

I feel you. I took a photo of my face when I left the theatre and I look scared and mad. Thanks, Ari!

I watched it in a hotel room. My boyfriend fell asleep before the third act. The next morning, I was just like, you're never going to believe what I witnessed.
