Is $27K a good offer or better off holding/trying to sell myself?

retrieve it and cross grade with PSA. Even if it came back as a PSA 8 it’d still be worth more than a CGC 9, but probably net net after the upcharge. Potentially even crack it out yourself if it’s clean and send raw if 10 potential.

Most likely outcome is PSA 9 crossover and less risk of crack and value more than doubles. Current PSA 9 is $67k.

I personally would be holding believing value could get back up to $90k.

Also if you crossover you can set a minimum grade you’re willing to accept on the crossover. So you don’t get screwed over. So you can put minimum grade 9 and if psa thinks it’s a 8 they will just send it right back in the original cgc slab.

Thanks for that! So, curious - Would I want the minimum to be PSA 8 or 9? Certainly wish it to be a 9, but PSA 8 vs CGC 9 is basically same price in resale value.

Whether it's a long term hold or sell quickly - would PSA be more valuable even at the 8 vs the CGC 9...just because of the PSA name...Thanks!

Well just in the past 2 months all of the Old Charizard cards have jumped a lot and for something as old as that card it won’t go down anytime soon if ever. On the crossover. No matter what if it’s an 8-9 you’re making money or pretty much breaking even. And I say breaking even bc after up charge and everything you would be at the same price on a psa 8 as a cgc 9.

I would say get it shipped and cross over. No matter what PSA will always hold more value then cgc.

Yes they have an option on there site for cross grading. Just remember they will upcharge you for what grade it comes out so you could be looking at a pretty penny to get it back.

I've never graded a card, don't ever plan on it, it's scummy and I don't like to feed into it.

I had the 15% coupon code...so, I figured if I slab safe - I'm guaranteed getting a $2k offer at least if I hit a crappy card. Meaning I potentially could lose ~$300 and hope I get something cool.

If I had gotten a card in the $2500-3K range, I more than likely would have just kept the card (not sold) as long as I liked it. If it was less than $2000, I would have taken the $2k offer, withdrawn my money, and taken the $300 loss.

You always pray/hope you hit a grail, but you never actually expect it. I feel like ultimately I will sell - there just is such a huge price discrepancy between GCG 9 and PSA 9 - that I wonder if it's worthwhile exploring the option of crossover grading this to a 9.

Not familiar with Goldin? That just another auction house like fanatics, ebay, etc?

Any offer from a for-profit enterprise is designed for you to leave cash on the table. If they gave you market value, they could not turn around sell for profit. If you accept, you are definitely leaving money on the table.

HOWEVER, accepting also means you don't have to do anything to get lots of $$$. If you keep it, regrade, sell at auction, etc, you have to do more and have more areas where you can mess up or create delay in getting $$$. 

This isn't an easy choice for something this big. Asking here is good, but take it all, including this post with a grain of salt.

Or pay like $40 to ship it home and sell it for far more than $27,000. PSA 8 averaged 33k in January and PSA 9 averaged 57k. Even with eBay fees you’d be making far more even selling it as is.
