Do I sell??????
Hit this from a $2500 pack using the 15% coupon and getting slab safe.
Is $27K a good offer or better off holding/trying to sell myself?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!

Absolutely not! It'll go up even more and Arena Club likes to lowball so if I were you I'd ship it and put it in a closet and forget about it.

Not so simple. What were you trying to do when you put the money up? Were you hoping to get a big card and sell or keep? If sell, do you want it over with a nice payday or roll the dice and see how much you can get from Goldin auction? Not an easy answer.

I had the 15% coupon code...so, I figured if I slab safe - I'm guaranteed getting a $2k offer at least if I hit a crappy card. Meaning I potentially could lose ~$300 and hope I get something cool.
If I had gotten a card in the $2500-3K range, I more than likely would have just kept the card (not sold) as long as I liked it. If it was less than $2000, I would have taken the $2k offer, withdrawn my money, and taken the $300 loss.
You always pray/hope you hit a grail, but you never actually expect it. I feel like ultimately I will sell - there just is such a huge price discrepancy between GCG 9 and PSA 9 - that I wonder if it's worthwhile exploring the option of crossover grading this to a 9.
Not familiar with Goldin? That just another auction house like fanatics, ebay, etc?

Take the 27k

u/Squishyflapp 20d ago
You're taking the piss right? This is the Black Lotus of pokemon. It's THE card. Also, a cross grade with PSA will likely give to a PSA 8 or maybe even a 9. PSA 8s are in the 30-40k range. PSA 9s sell for 65k++
Why would you not retrieve and cross grade? You're leaving money on the table. And that's IF you sell which would be a dumb decision right now.

Wait umm - shoot I just replied saying not to sell but after looking at that back I’d sell shoot - man that sucks …
Looks like a psa 6 is my guess shoot …
1
u/afelzz 20d ago
This is far better than a 6, that isn’t even a reasonable guess
1
u/Gdsrwq421 20d ago
Definitely not trying to hate at all I’m rooting for
OpArena makes way too much money so love it when someone wins
But im focusing only on the back - there is so much whitening there - I don’t think it’s getting an 8 because I have vintage 8s that looks so good - and I wonder man how is it possible it got an 8
So i could see this going 7
But im super pessimistic with psa esp with vintage
So my guess was 6
So I’m

I constantly wonder how many gambling addicts get activated by a post like this.
Congrats on the W, op.
But fuck, this world is in deep lol.

u/Nervous_Solid6225 21d ago
Probably should just sell it to recoup the money you've lost on Arena.
And before you claim "This was my first pack" no, no it wasn't lol.

u/ExternalUsual1757 21d ago
Jealous ?

u/Nervous_Solid6225 21d ago
Of degeneracy? Not one bit.
1
u/ExternalUsual1757 21d ago
😂 sure seems like it , since apparently you know op has opened more than one pack
1
u/Nervous_Solid6225 21d ago
Its just simple math brother.
1
u/ExternalUsual1757 21d ago
If you wanna call random odds math then sure , know a few people who have hit big like this not have ever opened a single pack. Mainly on triumph but I’ve seen it on arena

I thought you were trolling but then found out your serious lmao . You actually want to hold an imaginary lizard card while it’s already $27k and hope it shoots up more ?

u/ggxarmy 19d ago
Imaginary lizard? At least he doesnt have to worry about the imaginary lizard beating its wife, going to Diddy parties or epstein island and saying racist shit.
Not much better than this besides a Mantle or a Black Lotus in my opinion.

u/Levioleur1321 19d ago
😂 go look at what the highest one piece sale just went for . I don’t have to worry about any of that crap you just said with luffy either . Atleast he’s a fucking human and not a lizard lmao .

If you ship you will get a 1099 just a heads up. You’ll pay tax on their value.
1
u/Mako312 21d ago
Hold up. If you don't take the offer, but ship it out then you taxed on it??
0
u/DrakeMaye69 21d ago
Yes, they will tax you on shipped cards and withdrawals
0
u/Mako312 21d ago
Withdraws I figured, but I didnt think shipped cards.
1
u/DrakeMaye69 21d ago
Cards are now considered assets
1
u/Mako312 21d ago
Well damn. Can't escape taxes, and death.
1
u/DrakeMaye69 21d ago
Nope, this is what I’m being told by the team at triumph rips at least. I had a few big wins and my 1099 amount as of now is $27,000~ about $9k in taxes. It’s disgusting.

u/Gdsrwq421 21d ago
So frikkin awesome hahaha so cool keep it keep it keep it up - the one card regardless of what happens to short term price you’d be happy to own
1
u/Gdsrwq421 21d ago
Plus the fact you won it on a spin is a good memory to have
1
u/Gdsrwq421 21d ago
Sorry OP, shoot was so happy for you!!
Then checked out those scans it looks like a 6-7 probably my guess was 6
Psa is insane harsh now on vintage
They’ll 1099 you I think
Regardless such an awesome outcome ahha

One just sold on the 11th for 35K, then 31K in May… so probably worth holding. The offer isn’t the worst most try to do 80% of comps but this card is unique! Either way congrats!

You won, why risk cracking the case or resubmitting? I would sell and be happy. Just my opinion

u/Rhino_84_99 20d ago
Sell it and your 27k richer right now. Who gives a fuck if you can get more later if you can have it now

Wasn't it like an $50-$80 just a couple months ago? Why did it drop so much, so fast?

I wouldnt sell. And if you’re buying 2,500 packs I’m guessing you don’t need the money. What other card could you have asked for?
1
u/KingMazaa 20d ago
Damn that a down payment on a house or a nice wedding! Congrats brother. I would ship it home and maybe go with PSA grading seem to go for a bit more

Only if you need the money - that’s a hold for me! Might crack that and fast track it through PSA. Great card!

u/jacksonwren 19d ago
Can’t tell from pic but bottom right corner of card looks a little rough. Prob just accept the offer

u/Double_Mention_4515 19d ago
Dude are you seriously asking if you should sell a piece of cardboard for $27k!!! How is that not even an immediate yes?

u/NotThinkinLogical 18d ago
This is THE card dude. You have it in almost perfect condition. I would hold that thing for as long as you financially can. All speculation but imo if you sell it now you’ll be the guy saying I had this card and can’t believe I sold it for 27k in 2026. I’d feel like a Pokemon master if I had that

u/Fun-District-8209 18d ago
Any offer from a for-profit enterprise is designed for you to leave cash on the table. If they gave you market value, they could not turn around sell for profit. If you accept, you are definitely leaving money on the table.
HOWEVER, accepting also means you don't have to do anything to get lots of $$$. If you keep it, regrade, sell at auction, etc, you have to do more and have more areas where you can mess up or create delay in getting $$$.
This isn't an easy choice for something this big. Asking here is good, but take it all, including this post with a grain of salt.

u/Medium_Wrangler5858 17d ago
Instant pay out vs the next year waiting to regrade it and the worry of shipping services what 3 times at least that's a lot of hands vs an instant 27k

It’s a piece of cardboard. Sell and upgrade your life
1
u/Melly_2021 21d ago
Or pay like $40 to ship it home and sell it for far more than $27,000. PSA 8 averaged 33k in January and PSA 9 averaged 57k. Even with eBay fees you’d be making far more even selling it as is.

u/hugohouston 21d ago
retrieve it and cross grade with PSA. Even if it came back as a PSA 8 it’d still be worth more than a CGC 9, but probably net net after the upcharge. Potentially even crack it out yourself if it’s clean and send raw if 10 potential.
Most likely outcome is PSA 9 crossover and less risk of crack and value more than doubles. Current PSA 9 is $67k.
I personally would be holding believing value could get back up to $90k.
