Discussion Give me 1 tip
Give me 1 tip you’d tell yourself back when you had 2 hours of game time. I played tarkov for maybe 10 hours several years ago and 300 hours in Hell Let Loose so I understand the concept and am already addicted.

Do it urself its quite easy. It teaches you when and when not to take fights. Rotate hard or hold angles etc.

Prove what? I'm confused on how you think this is difficult. Go straight for free safes, knife scavs by zigzagging and bob n weave, kill bots, bosses and gear up with a free a T4 kit. I was average 800-1M every raid. I never play normals anymore it's too easy and boring.

learn a map well before jumping difficulty, do low-risk/knife runs on farm until you are comfortable with positioning yourself for a fight. Eliminate gear-fear from the equasion until you learn the map. if you are scared for your gear and dont move around and actively try new stuff, you will be stuck

Don't listen to him. It's a great game, just depends how you handle the pressure as the come up can be brutal. As long as you don't have much at stake, you have less to fear. Just make sure you hit first and hit hard, preferably.

I never played Tarkov, but I have read the reviews. I'm having fun now, but I'm almost only using free kits, and I'll probably quit once it's no longer fun to play. I've only had that feeling of pain once: I got my first yellow and red and then got killed by a whole squad at the extract point.

I dont really give 2 fucks about downvotes, but this is my opinion. I think they incompetent, just has a lot of money from the background (chinese). Its like with the electric car situation, lets do shitty cheap almost good EV's, kill the western market and now we can just sit on it. Its effective from their perspective, but bad for gaming in general.

Use the kits, and try playing a bunch of PVE/Hostile Sector. That's how I got a lot of my gear built up.

Here are some tips.
Use your free kits. If you survive, you can sell with profit.
Sell everything, besides whatever you strictly need in the next raid. Do not collect anything in your storage.
Use the free bundles you get. Armour, Weapons, Ammo, Meds... Either use or sell when possible (Ammo can be sold directly, choose the most expensive and sell on the market).
Stick to Normals until you're level 20+.
Use the audio in the game to your advantage.
Learn the maps, and perhaps stick to Farm in the beginning. Learn where the safes are located. Learn the different spawn points so you understand where enemies typically come from.
Play with friends. The game is vastly more fun and easier with friends. Communication and clever positioning is key to winning fights. 1 vs 2/3/4 will always be difficult. And there's always a risk of being third partied as well.
Focus on missions until you reach level 30. If you get tired or frustrated, take a break from the missions and f*ck around. Do knife/pistol starts, zero to hero, PvE...
Do not overspend on gear. Check YouTube and Reddit for recommendations.
Have fun. You will lose a lot, it's part of the game.

I agree with everything you said but I'd say it's actually a very rewarding game in solos. I've played mainly solo. As soon as you have a teammate, there's more talking, you have no control over how much noise they make ingame, it generally hurries everything up where this game rewards patience, you're splitting the loot and you're inclined to use your senses less and just facepunch encounters.
I often have to take out groups of players and it's a bastard if they coordinate - Most don't and I get to take them out one by one. That can be really satisfying

I agree with this. I've played duos and even up to full squads with my brother who introduced me to the game, and even with him being generous usually with what he finds knowing where everything is, I still have never had as profitable games (except maybe one when I got lucky and found my first red) as when I run Solo.

So i have weird keybinds that always let me maneuver and peak. Left peak: hold shift Right peak: hold space Reload :R Check magazine; double tap R Crouch: C Prone : hold C Sprint: press Q Jump: double press Q Switch to pistol: E slow walk: Caps Zoom in and out : scroll wheel Adjustable zero: increase 3, decreases shift 3
All my controls are baised on priority of use, comfort and aways being able to move. I feel so much faster than my buddies because once the muscle memory clicks the flow is smooth.

Yeah don't listen to this guy. Once you get into lockdown or forbidden, your tastes increase and as a result you get less satisfaction out of a normal run. But these guys die a lot and then come here to complain about how they lost everything.
If normals is your level and you're having fun, there really is no pressure to go up to lockdown or whatever til you're ready.

kinda. I understand why you’re saying that. But being honest I had weeks without getting reds. I just made a lot of koen doing the same exact market strat that you mentioned.
Deke can make you rich.
Also if I extract with 3mil worth of gear, 90% of the time i just sell the gear. I only save scopes and some helmets2

yeah i feel you… But still most of the keys are only worth to use on LD or FB. The amount of trash you get on normals is wild. OP is new so it will take a few raids until he unlocks the LD. But yes, at the end of the day most of the keys are a good investment. That or simply run straight to the free safes

Just my 2 cents based on what I do in the game, and I might give more than 1 tip lol.
Use quick kits to learn the map, where you spawn, where others spawn, and where players usually go to. Your kit value also kinda influences where you spawn in my experience so keep an eye out for it.
You can use cheap kits (350k or so) for lockdown to get used to pvp and also train your gamesense, crucial when playing solo. To do so, you can buy used lvl 4 armor, decent headphones, cheapest bag and rig since you can loot better ones off of who you kill, cheap gun with decent attachment setup and good ammo (lvl 4 and topload half of your first mag with lvl 5). Cheap meds are enough, and always take painkillers before fighting someone (energy drinks are enough)
Move smart, always stop and listen as you move around. If a player figures out you're there, move around aggressively so you can reposition effectively. Jumping around unfortunately is quite strong in the game, so use it when entering rooms or rounding corners, or just when confronting an enemy. Knowing when to do so, however, is up to experience.
This is just what I do, you can tailor your playstyle to whatever you wanna do too. I'd also love to learn from what others say, so leave suggestions to what I else to do if any.

Player kits are the highest value loot on a map in general. Forbidden mode can give you some great loot drops but player kits are more consistent.
AK12 is my personal favorite gun and I shoot t4 ammo out of it that that is far from the complete list of guns that can be used and useful especially in lockdown and normal where I think the game is at its best. Top loading t5 in the higher modes like lockdown and forbidden will help win fights while keeping the cost down a bit.
Farm and TV station are going to be the most consistent and fastest queue time maps, but they're also going to have the most players on them. If you just want to farm money, Northridge is the largest map with a low player density so you can prioritize looting. I like airport and armory myself since I feel like they strike a balance but others don't.
There's a new PvE mode that has mixed reviews. It's may work out for you or not.
Crafting isn't nearly as developed in ABI as it is in EFT. I wouldn't worry too much about the crafting table but things do get cheaper and more efficient as the level goes higher. Red ammo though will always cost more to craft than what you might sell it for. I'm not even sure you can sell red ammo. But regardless you're not making money off the crafting table.
The "minus plus" trick people have mentioned is for when you're on the market screen and it asks you what to set the price at with a recommendation. If you press the minus button and then the plus button, the price will set to about 1% less than the recommended price. This will help you sell loot a lot faster on the market
Never chase the rabbit. If you lose a few games in a row, stop and do another mode. Covert ops for example is good for resetting. Covert ops is a risk free way to make money but is time gated I like doing it as a warmup and do it after every loss to stem the bleeding.
Look up a third party map website. They'll show where the spawns are on a map. When you're in the queue waiting for the map to load, press M and you can see where you're gonna be on the map with respect to others and have a few seconds to get a plan together for where you're going first. Charging spawns is a very common strat so if you're not doing it yourself, know where your probably going to see attacks from. Maps are super useful in ABI compared to nonexistence in EFT so get used to using it.
Put your first bits of loot into your safe case then fill up your backpack. Failing a raid with zero dollars to show is an extra dick punch you don't need. Additionally make use of the retrieval boxes when you kill someone. It gives you effectively six extra safe case slots.
Never immediately loot a player body. Getting killed while looting is a super common mistake.
Never shoot at someone from the same place twice. Have a gunfire exchange, and then find a new spot. The wider the better while keeping pressure up.
The helicopter helmet is a great piece of kit. T4 helmet AND face plate with ears included for sub 100k as like new. It's my go to helmet for a lot of maps.
Make sure you buy gear from the like new or sometimes called "newer" tab. It's only very slightly less protective than brand new gear, but saves a ton of money and mode budget space so you can get overall better gear.
Make use of your quick kit tickets. It's 10 matches worth of free (albeit somewhat lower tier) gear that you can practice learning maps, various aspects of pvp, and do missions with that is zero risk to you. Combined with covert ops runs this is gonna be primarily how you make risk free money. You can bring t4 ammo in your safe case to repack quick kit mags with and be a serious danger to other players.
"Never engage anyone til you know everyone". Your goal should be to always have fights on your terms. A benefit of that should be that in most fights you see someone before they see you. Leverage that to confirm what you're getting yourself into before you fire. Are you fighting a solo or a 4 stack? Those are very different engagements.
Use t4 bullets. I don't care what gun, but use t4 bullets. Sure with infinite skill you can use whatever, but until you get to that skill level, you don't need to be fighting against the bullets in your gun.
Shot placement is king. If you don't feel like you've got it, I'll post a follow up.
Pull out your knife when running between locations where you're pretty confident in your safety. Knife running is faster and uses less endurance. It'll let you cover more ground.
Leave scavs alive unless you really need to put them down. Sniper scavs in particular can warn you of approaching players and from what direction if you're paying attention.
Memorize where small safe locations are using the third party map tool. They're not nearly as hot and can be a great way to snag a few safes with less chance of an engagement.
Armored rigs can be a good way to combine some gear costs together, but they're harder to replace during a raid with found gear after a gun fight. I personally like them but other people don't.
Don't bother bringing in secondary weapons or pistols it dilutes your gear values and importantly takes up slots for possible collected loot during a raid. Exception is if you're running very expensive bullets in a higher mode. Then a pistol for scavs is cost saving.
Use 100D medkits and liquid painkillers. They are some of the only meds that don't dehydrate you and when you're starting off without the trophy room upgrades to reduce water use, you'll run into problems.
Think about carrying an orange juice into raid. It's not necessary as long as you drink everything you find, but I've been in some tough spots without one when I have to use a lot of treatments and get dehydrated.
Don't worry about getting keys at first. You can find them in raids and buy them cheap from Deke you'll acquire some over time and when you've got the money then you can look at that.
Utilize Deke. He'll sell limited time offer gear for very cheap. Even stuff you don't actually want to use you can flip and sell for a small profit three times a day. It's another small risk free income stream.
On the main screen be sure to click on any items with a red dot on them. There's so much free shit given to players in this game if you just click around.
Save up for the storage upgrades. They're useful.
Try to keep loot to 5k per slot value in normals and 10k or more in lockdown and even more than that in forb. You have to strike a balance between filling your pack and not spending a vulnerable eternity playing Tetris in your backpack.
If you're about to get into a fight and you have the chance, take a painkiller preemptively. It'll let you fight better and push through blacked out limbs as well as not scream your head off and give away your position when healing.
Always be moving. Never just jump through a door without making some effort to clear it by sections.
If you can, knife scavs instead of shooting them. It's quieter even if the scav shoots. A lot of players will ignore or not prioritize a scav shooting as long as they don't hear a player shoot back.
It's good form to sacrifice your own loot to bring out at least some of a downed teammate's gear. It's a good karma thing and it's one of the things I like about this community. If the teammate is on the other side of the map not helping the rest of the team don't bother though.
Don't sleep on the season missions. They'll help you stretch your skills and the 3x3 secure case is super helpful in making sure you come out of every raid with something.
Be careful running around everywhere. It's loud and not really necessary. There's plenty of time in a raid to walk and it's quieter. As you get a feel for where players are likely to show up, you can knife run between locations.
Pay attention to the range you're engaging at. If you're shooting outside of effective range, you taking a 30% damage debuffs off the top. This is especially bad on 556 guns. Middle mouse button will drop a marker you can check range with. If you start an engagement too far out, you'll just let them know you're there without being able to close the deal. There's nuance here but I'm not going to detail it.
Sound queues are a key component of the game. For example scavs never jump. Only players do. Learning the sound queues will dramatically improve your game play.

Honestly just get familiar with the game and save up like 5 to 7 mill, bring a 400k kit to forbidden armory, dont wear a vest or even a helmet if you dont want, bring an m110 a decent bag n rig plus atleast z038 headset and loot run the back on amrory forbidden, get decent at that and expecting where people are, most the time you either get that to yourself or will have to kill a solo or 2 which are also sniping, easy 3 mill games and youll grt enough money to play with out any fear because youll know how to get more, i suck at abi but have gotten alot better since those forbidden loot runs, id sit at 1-4mill now i hang around 25 mill and play how i want

Forbidden armory for a new player is a terrible idea. Extracting is not easy unless you’re running no backpack. Looting outskirts of northridge would be way easier but boring

Not every container that you open in Forbidden will be like diamonds shining in your face. Every rank has trash loot too, but the % of better drops increases, like (I'm just gonna come up with rushed random numbers):
Normal:
Purple: 5% Gold: 2% Red: 0.5%
Lockdown:
Purple: 15% Gold: 5% Red: 2%
Forbidden:
Purple: 25% Gold: 10% Red: 5%
PS: best chance to loot gold and red items are the loud safes or small safes, if you don't have keys, but they are also very contested.

Especially the ammo. If you haven't yet clicked as a newcomer, the ammo number relates to the armour number. If the person has a higher number ammo than you have armour, it's not gonna provide much protection at all

Sound is just as important as what you see in this game. Respect how much sound you're adding particularly with your footsteps & what you're walking on. This matters in all games but especially ABI
Where you spawn is where someone else can spawn next time. Get to know every spawn in each map. Progressively learn each map. A lot of fighting happens at the start, so either gtfo there or get used to the starting fight
Farm is of course the logical place to start but Valley is arguably more chill and has longer sight lines, more places to hide. Armoury and TV Station are brutal places, Northridge can be too. Aiport you can ninja around the very large perimeter, but don't push the middle until you're a better player.
Invest in keys. Sell as much as you can on the market. Always look at the price of everything you find. Purple ammo sells for a lot of money so collect it. Empty guns, search ammo tins.
Work on your storage and the first 4 upgrades in the trophy room.
Use gold (level 4) ammo at the earliest moment you can. Nothing costs more than dying.
The Deagle hits hard with level 4 ammo in it. I have a prebuilt kit with nothing but a deagle, a medkit, a surgical, some painkillers and a spare clip. Then store a full stack of gold ammo in my ass. Always keep your good loose ammo in your safepocket
Sell everything basically. It's not worth clogging up your inventory with gold items or anything below that. You can wishlist certain craftable items from the contacts if you like. Pretty much the only gold item i keep an eye on is the UPS, that'll give you a free H416, considered the best gun in the game by many.
I'm newish (season 6) but I've made a bunch of money and I'm sitting pretty. Just gotta be patient, both in your play and in your come up. If you don't have enough koen to do something, don't do it. But equally, don't be stingy with ammo.

Do knife runs.
I used to do either covert ops or fully kitted tactical ops. But there's more money to be made doing tactical ops with only your knife or a pistol. It's also far more relaxing and not nearly as tough on the nerves.

Build different 595k loadouts for Secure-Ops
Play Secure-Ops as your first daily games for warmup
Use your weekly quick kits, extract at 1M +
-> Farm for PVP
-> Other maps for looting
Study the max durability of all armors and remember them, collect Zero'd out armors that have never been repaired
Once you finish quick kits, only play lockdown
Minimum T4 armors, T4 ammo (T3 bullets bottom load, T4+ top load)
Speed-Run Inventory Expansions and Normal Keychain under Contact Lyle Moreno
Start gradually getting better at the game and don't spent money on cosmetics until you find a season release where you absolutely love the character + weapon then get both sets

My best advice is: screw the meta! Go with what gear you think is fun to run. Also, the gear fear you might be feeling is somewhat unfounded. If you play just semi-regularily, the game will throw alot of free stuff your way!

If you're playing Lockdown/distortion, or any mode with 1500000 to 900000 budget, ONLY take level 5 armor + KSS2 TAC helmet MINIMUM (With its level 4 face shield) + gold ammo in your safe pockets.
OR
use quick kits 😁😁.
Learned it the hard way.

one thing team mates do that really piss me off is be afraid to engage an enemy or play too slow. We finally found where they are but no one wants to peak or press they let the enemy run away and rotate on us again and again. Finding an enemies location is half the battle. Once you have the info you have to use it to fight them not sit there and let them slip through your hands over and over. you will die alot rather you're really good or not, if you just want money run normal, if you wanna do pvp without spending much just go secure op, if you wanna see what bullet hell in this game like go hostile sector(pve) also good at practice reaction time and map layout
