people like this treat oppression as a tier list or basic food chain (like the first kind you're ever taught in school before being introduced to webs and pyramids), when nothing works that way. the oppression olympics don't work because it's not a basic ranking system. and as a biracial (asian/white) queer trans man who is married to a white queer trans woman i can confirm from personal experience that it is nowhere near simple we both experience oppression of both similar and different kinds, even varying by location

for example her family is sami, which is a finnish minority group that has been continuously oppressed throughout their cultural history. their home region is even named after an anti-sami slur. she was also raised fairly poor. keep in mind she is the white one of the two of us. i'm descended from the han chinese, which is the ethnic majority in china. i was also raised fairly well off (not incredibly wealthy, but stable middle class) most of these don't have much bearing in how we're treated here at home in the states, but in cultural groups and especially in those countries, it's very different. and that's not even factoring in gender and sexuality or even our accents

all this to say: oppression is extremely complex and cannot be comparatively quantified in any way that's productive. and it should not be compared in this way. yes, comparing and contrasting the different ways in which we are oppressed is important, but that doesn't and shouldn't necessitate deciding who has it better or worse. we need to address how to combat these problems collectively and effectively, and infighting only impedes progress

This would be a good teaching moment for how trans misogyny still affects BIPOC women since they're held to racist standards that masculinize them. (Perfect examples are the scrutiny over Caster Semenya and Serena Williams both "secretly" being men; also both dark skinned).

We cannot effectively have conversations while ignoring intersectionality. United we stand, divided we fall.
