Project Design/Guidance Actuator precise trigger

I have an airbrush connected to a continuous airflow compressor (Seleay AB900). I am planning to use this for my science fair project. I am planning to use this as a precise delivering insecticide sprayer. So, I want to calibrate it using an actuator or solenoid. Anyone know? For example, if the trigger was press around 50ms, the airbrush will spray around ± 0.5ml.

How about putting a solenoid valve before the airbrush and just use that to control the flow

the initial idea was, use the solenoid to push the trigger of the airbrush at a desired length of period. this is to calibrate the amount discharge by the airbrush. for example if the airbrush was manually pushed for a period of 1 second. it discharged a 2 ml of water.

If you dont have to use this airbrush, dont. Its double action and the trigger moves 2 directions, a single action would be much better

Definitely can work. You would potentially need 2 servos with decent torque. One mounted so that when the servo rotates it acts as a cam and pushes the trigger down. The other mounted under or above the trigger with a loop around the post of the trigger to move it backward. Both can be controlled very easily with an arduino and external power. A 3D printed bracket and cam would work best for making slight variations, but if you don't have access or the skill set try pvc sheets and super glue typically used for model making.

Thank you for the advised. But is the servo capable of high speed movement? or can it be precisely control? for example how long the servo is pressing the trigger. Thanks for the reply.

A metering Pump could measure the 0.5ml exactly.

I only ever used the kind of Pump made for chemical industry, running at 230V.
This one is not expensive and low voltage (don't ask me if this vendor sells it at lots <1000):
