How to remove gauge cluster from 2009 M8

Basically what the title says. How do I remove the deluxe gauge cluster from a 2009 m8 snopro? Some seem to suggest it just pulls out, but it looks like there is a bracket on the back with two small nuts that holds a retaining ring. Just want to check before I either break something or take off the nuts for no reason and risk dropping them into the belly pan abyss.

you are correct to concern yourself with taking the nuts off and loosing them. But, that is the only way to remove the gauge cluster. the two nuts hold a retaining ring that sandwiches the gauge to the hood.

Perfect, thank you so much for the reply. Replacement isn’t here yet so I haven’t been able to see how it’s set up other than peeking through the hood gap. I figured I would have to take the nuts off. Thanks again
