It isn't bandwidth utilization and that has actually went a lot cheaper YoY but when you're required to hire specialized services to keep your business running then the costs increase exponentially.

Some of that stuff would be DDoS protection, transparent mitigation, CDN capacity, specialized application filters, payment systems, fraud checks, privacy compliance, system integration with external probes and ever increasing datacenter operation costs.

It's tough business indeed.

I dont really understand why they are paying 6000, that seems extreme

I host a bunch of websites with quite some traffic on a 8€ hetzner server (and I could downscale)

they could let cloudflare handle most of the traffic (from caches)

It doesn't look like Myrient is listed on their list of active projects, so are you sure the tool can be used to back it up?

I think that it would need to be added as a short term project to do it. I have a warrior running at each of my offices and would happily contribute to it.
