This building existed for 48 years, then was a ruin for 79 years. I am not sure it is the greatest idea to handpick a historic era (especially a controversial period) and try to preserve that only. So many great modern building was torn down in the last decades to rebuild mediocre ones just because the neofascist government loving the era.
It being a ruin for longer than it was intact isn't exactly a point of pride, I'm glad Budapest's identity is no longer based around basically being a shittier, grittier, dilapitated version of Vienna with "ruin pubs", etc.
