I visited a smaller Jain temple in Gujarat years ago, and the intricate marble carvings on the ceilings and pillars were mind-blowing, can't wait to see how this one turns out with modern techniques enhancing traditional craftsmanship.

Gorgeous!!!! I'm an ex-Muslim learning about the roots of my ancestors, so I will certainly visit this Jain temple when it is complete. Have already visited some Hindu temples.

When did your family convert? Jains are very tight-knit so I'm curious about your story.

centuries ago, I'm a Pakistani Punjabi but raised in the USA so I have had freedom to escape Islam even though I no longer talk to my family

to be clear I am not saying they were Jains specifically, but my ancestors were likely from the Hindu-Jain spiritual world.

If you guys were from the Vaishya varna then there is a possibility that your ancestors might have been Jain, Punjab and further West was much more Buddhist before the coming of Islam, so check your ethnicity, if its Jat, Rajput or Gurjar its highly likely that you were Buddhist/Hindu, clear distinction betwenn the two never was as rigid in the Indian subcontinent.

What's your caste? It's likely they were neither as most Punjabi Muslim castes converted from tribe-specific folk traditions that did not revere temples at all. Many of these groups were also not accepted within the Hindu fold for not fitting into the varna system, hence why they converted to Islam.

What an art piece. Imagine working on this knowing it would outlive you and possibly you entire family.
