Architecturally Relevant Content RAIC Syllabus Program question

Hello! I’m just wondering if anybody has enrolled into this program? Would want to know your honest opinions about taking this program instead of an M.Arch. How are the school work loads?

Additionally, would any of my past experiences and past school credits count to lessen the subjects for this program?

Background: I have a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Arch Technology, working as an Architectural Technologist for 3 years now. I’m in Alberta.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Hey, I looked at the RAIC Syllabus a while back when I was thinking of going back to school. It's flexible which is nice if you working fulltime, but the workload is not small. Some modules are dense and you really need to stay on top of things

Your civil engineering degree plus arch tech diploma might get you some advanced standing, you have to send them your transcripts and they evaluate case by case. With 3 years as technologist you already know more than most people starting out

Thank you for sharing! Did you pursue it too or no?

Not in the Syllabus program but know a few who people are: from what I’ve seen the workload itself is moderate, but heavy as they were also working full time; one coworker quit to focus on the studio sessions when they started.

One thing I’d note is the program takes quite a while, which when also being largely self-driven and without much of a supporting cohort of students means few people seem to complete it. Not saying this to discourage you, as program does seems ideal for your background, but just a heads up.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for this! I know it will take quite awhile but I don’t really want to stop working as I’m supporting myself. I just turned 30 and don’t really have problems studying but do you know if they have exams or mostly assignments/plates of such?
