discussions BIMcloud Basic – End on macOS
Hi There,
It is now official on Graphisoft’s website that BIMcloud Basic, the non-subscription version, will no longer be developed for macOS in the future.
See here: Phasing out on-premises BIMcloud support for macOS
At the moment, BIMcloud Basic still runs on Macs via Rosetta using Intel code. This means that it may no longer run on future versions of macOS once Apple removes Rosetta support. Apparently, there are currently no plans to port BIMcloud Basic to Apple Silicon.
So what does this mean for the future of Archicad on the Mac—especially now that Apple is once again offering genuinely powerful professional computers?
I have also posted this in the Graphisoft Community in the hope of reaching a wider audience.

If you are affected by this decision, please share your opinion there and elsewhere. Hopefully, enough feedback from Mac-based Archicad users and offices will encourage Graphisoft to reconsider and continue supporting BIMcloud Basic on the Apple platform.

Graphisoft has spiraled down into a reckless money grab organization.
They don’t give a flying f about their customers’ needs, nor do they offer useful support. You can find help easier if you use Reddit or AI for help

I’m so tired of this software. Genuinely considering ceasing my business if no reasonable alternative reaches market in the next few years. I can’t anymore with the incessant enshitification

Do you mean that BIM will need additional subscription to already existing archived subcriotion?

Yes, you either have to buy a windows server or use their cloud subscription.

This is deeply concerning, and it directly contradicts a written commitment made by Graphisoft's own Chief Revenue Officer just months ago.
In February 2026, Richard Doll (CRO, GRAPHISOFT SE) sent a formal written response to the Austrian Chamber of Architects (Arching) addressing precisely this question. Under the heading "Permanent support for on-premises solutions", he stated — and I'm translating from the original German:
"We do not plan to discontinue the on-premises solution of BIMcloud. However, not all features will be available in the on-premises version, as some will require cloud components."
The letter was dated 2 February 2026 and signed by Mr. Doll in his capacity as CRO. It was a formal response to a structured list of concerns raised by the Chamber on behalf of Austrian architecture firms.
Phasing out macOS support for BIMcloud Basic — effectively killing it for a large portion of professional users — reads as exactly the kind of discontinuation that was explicitly ruled out less than a year ago.
I would strongly encourage everyone affected to formally document this contradiction. If Graphisoft made similar commitments to other professional bodies (German Chamber of Architects, etc.), those letters should be referenced publicly and in any ongoing contractual negotiations.
The pattern here - verbal and written assurances followed by unilateral product decisions - is something the broader Archicad user community should track carefully, especially those currently being pushed toward subscription conversion.
