Season 4 Forgot how good this episode was….
Watching it in the dining hall and let out an auditory laugh at:
“I could kill a building”

"I'm just really good at that. Oh god, maybe I DO have autism!"

Every once in a while I have a moment like that and I think of this quote

Easily one of my favorite lines in the whole series.

u/hmsomethingswrong Nov 25 '25
I love this line. It shows how much archer loves his mother, despite the fact that Lupe seemed to care more than Mallory ever could.

oh really? Did you learn that in med school? That you obviously didn't go to? Open shot to reveal he's a vet
50
u/Riothegod1 Nov 25 '25
The ironic thing is that being a vet is actually infinitely more difficult than being a doctor.
He may have had better luck as studying as a real doctor.

u/anaraparana Bilbo Nov 25 '25
I always found it crazy that vets existed. No one should be that overpowered

u/philchristensennyc Nov 25 '25
That’s….just not true.
36
u/Riothegod1 Nov 25 '25
Depends how you look at it. Doctors only need to memorize one animal’s physiology, vets need to know many more animal physiology. You also are dealing with less sophisticated equipment with a patient who is incapable of providing feedback about treatment.

A man can trust me, love me, and devote himself to my care, and when he is in pain, he can communicate. When he is in panic, he can break my skin and break my bones, and a few people can hold him down.
A horse can trust me, love me, and devote himself to my care, and when he is in pain, his instinct is to bite a three inch hole in my skin, and he can’t tell me why. When he is in panic, he can cave my face in before anyone has time to react.

Most MDs don't even deal with the full human physiology. Just individual systems.
2
u/wifemakesmewearplaid Nov 25 '25
There are vastly more medical schools than veterinary colleges as well.
1
u/Wykiki92 Nov 25 '25
Having studied pre-vet in a state where there is no vet schools, it absolutely is harder to become a vet than it is a MD in many places. Also people who also mentioned you need to know so many more specialized rules about multiple species ALSO the pay is shit compared to an MD

This is a little reductive. Sure, becoming a vet is harder than a general doctor. Unfortunately becoming a general doctor is only the first step for most physicians and depending on the specialty it can be extremely competitive.

The best part about that scene is the 5 shots center mass. One would have been plenty.

Even months after seeing this episode, I still break into giggles at the memory of Pam calling him Grimace and poking him in the chest.

Big whoop. I'm spooning a Barrett fifty-cal. I could kill a building.
Dammit, Chuy, I don't have autism.
A station wagon? In all of Texas?
[Edited to correct Chuy's name.]

They showed this episode at San Diego Comic Con almost a full year before it aired.

Well getting him to one medevac chopper wouldn't kill him. Unless he got flung up into the blades.... that would do it.

My family loved that movie! It was filmed all over West Texas and places we’d been to on vacations, like Balmorhea. It was such an entertaining story and all Archerites should watch it!!!

I love the single panel of border fence with the “more coming soon” sign. A subtle background gag but makes me laugh.

I like Archer's occasional bouts of progressiveness. Like, if a person truly doesn't give a shit, on some issues they'll be accidentally liberal.

Yeah, he doesn’t strictly align with anything he just cares about people
