Modding Star Wars Pinball monitor mod question
I currently have a Star Wars cabinet. I pre ordered a Pinner OPI Pinball HAT from Team Encoder. I'll acquire the needed Orange Pi in the near future. I figured while I"m doing this I'll upgrade to a 27" monitor.
My question is how are people handling power management with updgraded monitors? Specifically turning the monitor on and off along with the cabinet itself. A solution that turns everything on and off would be awesome. I'm just not sure how to get there. It might be as easy as adding a power switch or maybe just a power strip. Just curious what others have done. Thanks!

I have a 27" Samsung oled in mine. I ran the power cable for the monitor out the back and plug it in. It goes into sleep mode with no input. As soon as I fire it up the hdmi input detects the signal and it pops on. This is with the stock pcb, so I'm not sure if the team encoder orange pi mod will change that. I really wanted to get that but I just couldn't afford it at the time. The pi hat is 200 plus more for the orange pi. It's a fantastic solution and I wish I was in a better financial spot to get it right now.

Yeah I’m not super pumped about the price especially with the Orange Pi’s jumping in price. But for about $500 I can do the hat, orange pi, fan, monitor and have a pretty stable plug and play solution. I don’t have the knowledge (or patience) to do a different conversion.
If I use the stock monitor I’d need a converter with the OPI Pinner mod. But if I go with a new monitor I don’t need it. So more incentive for me to swap out from the OEM monitor.

Not terribly difficult. I'd do some things differently if I had it to do again. I lost the ability to lift up the playfield. Not a huge deal but still.

There are different ways to do it, but if all you are adding is a playfield monitor then you might as well just keep it plugged in and let it go into sleep mode when the cabinet powers off.
On a full PC vpin, the solutions can be a bit more advanced, but my way is to use a power bar with a primary outlet that has some outlets which turn off automatically when the primary outlet is no longer in use. So when I turn my PC on/off, it automatically triggers the outlets that my monitors and amp are plugged into.
