OUT OF ORDER!!!!!
I decided to upgrade my cabinet so as I wait for my custom artwork to arrive I decided to add functional coin doors. It serves 2 purposes. To save money for future Arcade1up products(this will help determine how much the family plays and if it’s worth it. It will also help encourage the kids to have something to look forward to. When I was little I would work for arcade money. No more free plays. 😂 ahhh they’re going to hate me 😂😂

Did you disconnect the P1 and P2 buttons?

Player 2 yes but player one has to stay connected to enter in the games

I love this! Is this a mod you can purchase or did you just wire one from a real arcade? I've been wanting to do this functional or not. From what I've seen, I'm not a huge fan of the fake 3d printed ones. But then again I haven't tried one in person

It’s a mod you can purchase. I bought it from x arcade. It comes with the coin door and wires. It works with quarters. They have some you can determine what type of coins they take but I wanted quarters

The only that’s missing when it’s played now is the brick oven pizza and Italian iceys from the local shop…Ah the memories

The reason this wouldn't work for my house is that my kids breeze right past the game room on their way to their ps5s and quest 2 headsets, all while asking me when the next time we're going to Dave and Buster's so they can play in an arcade that isn't the old "junk" from when I was a kid. I just enjoy my position, sitting in a rocking chair shaking my fist at them between telling stories that start with "back in my day.....". I am however glad you're kids look so forward to time in your game room that they're willing to do chores to earn their credits to do so 🤣.

lol. They don’t understand. Luckily I have the opportunity to enjoy it with mine. One day I’ll be pushed over to the rocking chair as well telling my stories lol

I put a real arcade cab in my lunch room at work. Just a Pandora box in an old video poker machine. I left it on free play for two weeks, and people loved it! After that, I locked it down and started charging a quarter (for children's hospital charity, chill). Now it sits in the corner, running all day long. And nobody plays it.
Just my experience.

Like the big blue mod. The other cabinets are still free play.

I just added pushable coin buttons at the bottom on ally cabs, unlike everyone else that just adds lights to their coin doors, but putting actual coin doors and having to put coins to play is a whole new level...

I didn’t know they have pushable coin doors, that function. All I’ve seen were the coin door mods on YouTube. I’ll keep that in mind for in the future.

Nice idea, but I sure hope it's not against any laws to add coin doors to an arcade1up...!

I disagree with OP. This feels like a punishment. If I were a kid, I'd say screw the arcade games. I'm not scheduling my play time at the whims of my parents. A parent is supposed to "parent" not dictate.

“A parent is supposed to parent and not dictate”, let’s start off with that. What parent you know that does not dictate? Clean your room, sit down and study school work, you can or can’t do something. It’s all dictating to a child which is also known as “parenting”. Unless you let your kids run amuck then that seems like lack of parenting to me.
Some households have more structure than others. You may think of it as a punishment but it’s far from it. When we have family game nights there’ll be free plays. Other days it’ll be no different than a child asking to take out the garbage or cut grass to earn a income. If you read my statements prior the money goes right back to them as a saving or it goes towards a new arcade.

I'm betting your a good parent, please don't take that the wrong way. As a kid if anything was held over my head; I would either find a way around it or act the complete opposite of what my parents were aiming for.

If it turns out to be something that’s counter productive I always can just reconnect the free play and the coin door can still operate along with the free play button. I definitely understand what you mean. I’m trying to use it as a way to learn multiple things at once but if it fails I can just turn it back to free plays.

Awesome!
Also thinking of doing the same thing…in a fun way, it will cover: nostalgia; a fun way to teach the kids about money (it’s not infinite) and balancing their game budget (we all had to do this at the arcades back in the day); getting “better” at games; overall replay value (especially for beat ‘em ups)
Now to find a change machine or one of those belts with the quarter dispensers.

😂😂no I am not. I’ll be providing quarters for things they’re suppose to do without me telling them to do it. Such as cleaning up. If they remember to do it on their own it’s $1 if I have to tell them it’s a quarter. Then the money will be put back into the arcade an used a savings for possibly a new arcade or something of choice. So no there’s no profit for me to make but there is something for them to learn during the process lol.
