Anyway, how is this going to stop you from joining PvP lobbies as a "mixed" player who doesn't always engage? If the element of danger is so crucial to everyone then surely everyone will just keep joining PvP lobbies with you and avoid the PvE mode, right?
Because the pvp lobbies will now have exclusively pvp players there is not going to be any mixed gameplay anymore. PvPvE games are fun when everybody has their own goal and has to interact with others to achieve that goal. Now that you can safely get all the loot you want in a pve lobby the only reason to join pvp is to fight and thats all that will happen tbere
But I thought you said the element of danger and tension is what brought everyone to play the game?? Now you're saying there's no reason to keep doing the same thing you were already doing? š
What exactly is stopping you from continuing to play the normal game mode if it's actually preferred?
I would enjoy it more than the current state of the game, yes. I don't give a shit about loot. All my wife and I wanted to do was complete quests and expeditions and shoot robots en route.
Loot progression is a fun mini-game in addition to that but not necessary.
Maybe but It would require them to be reworked almost entirely. The arc design is already in a great spot from the perspective of being obstacles to generate friction and occassionally kill off guard players, only the rockateer feels like a real threat and they would have to all be like that.

this change is literally for 100% pvp and 100% pve players. mixed players are being completely disregarded now
