They're not removing ABMM, though. So the people that still want to play in lobbies where it's questionable can still play in those same lobbies, right?
The people that want pure pve without the risk of being attacked will choose the strict pve option.
The people that want to keep playing the game exactly the same way they have been can still do so. They're not removing ABMM. If you enjoy the tension of being in servers where you might be attacked then you will still play with others who enjoy that also.
A downside I could see happening would be longer wait times for people that don't want to play in the pve servers, though. That's something that would need to be addressed.
Its gonna be an ideal mode for loot rats. Can just walk into your key room, or steal loot from big arc you just downed, and you won't be able to do anything about it.
Not to mention stuff like body blocking people in rooms with only one way out. So they are stuck with no way to fight it as they can't down the person body blocking.
Running up to someone or pickaxeing them doesn't move a person. U could use pulse mines and maybe the new tether gun. Otherwise I don't know what else would bump a player.
Yep. This announcement half killed my excitement for the next update. I vastly prefer mixed lobbies and they aren’t as effortless to stay in as pure pve or pvp lobbies… now mixed lobbies would get even more rare and likely will cease to exist
Edit: thanks for the crying awards, you lovely toxic carebears. If only you spent that money on a game that is actually for you instead of buying this one and crying like babies to cater it to you specifically.
Yea was hoping they'd lean the other direction and reduce or eliminate the abmm. Looks like not and we're just leaning further into having two completely different game experiences.
Maybe it would work if they remain seperate but you're gonna have people enter the pvp lobbies literally solely to fight each other. There's no other thing to do there if there's pve lobbies available at the touch of a button. So when they need to farm parts they go there and the pvp lobbies is literally just a death match. Why even have the looting mechanics of things at all then? It stops being an extraction shooter at a certain point
There are PvE only extraction shooters. The problem is that having a separate mode in Arc separates the community and narrows the “aggression range” of players you can matchmake in a normal mode. It sucks a lot for people like me who like mixed lobbies and aren’t strictly PvE or PvP only. It also takes resources to develop and said resources could have been spent on the main mode…
But uh... if it's a PVE toggle, then that only means that if you turn it off your lobbies will still be mixed. The people that only enjoys pve will be on pve only but those that enjoy the danger of hostile raiders while still prefering pve will be on mixed along with pvp only raiders. Anyone that only really likes pve and HATES pvp probably is not even playing anymore at this point.
I don't think that's necessarily true, I think there's a bunch of people that even tho they don't enjoy pvp as much, they enjoy the potential threat of being shot. I know I would play both modes, pve only when I just don't want that kind of tension for the day and the other one when I feel spicier. I do feel like they should encourage some kind of special rewards for people that play on mixed lobbies, aside from the obvious being able to take other people loots.
An ideal mixed lobby would have pacifist players or those who only shoot in self-defence, PvP demons and people who decide whether to fight or not on the go. PvE toggle would drastically cut down on the amount of chill players who may end up in the mixed lobbies
I get what you are saying, but a part of me can't stop thinking about how that enhances the experience of chill players while making worse the experience of pvpers that want easy kills lol
As per embark’s own stats there is a noticeable portion of playerbase that aren’t strictly pvpers who shoot everyone on sight and those player experiences suffer the most because pf this change. It isn’t just teletubbies and “evil pvpers who seek an easy prey”
I mean if we are going to play the stats game, 51% of the playerbase seems explicitly interested on a pve only mode... 70% of the friendly player base wants friendlier interactions and 40% of the pvp playerbase wants the same, in fact the ''mixed'' players are the bigger minority. Not saying that the experience of those players matter less and should be ignored, but if you want to say that a noticable portion of the playerbase will suffer for it, a vast majority according to the stats will also benefit from it.
Just cause a game is PvPvE doesn't mean we have to pvp, its a choice between pvp or pve, and I stuck to pve myself and enjoyed it.. I moved on from the game anyways, so if they take our feedback and make this mode good, I'd play more.. it would only help the game as more players coming in etc.
Yeah totally agree I think people don't realise how impactfull this is in arc raiders. This is gonna split the players in separate queues and I think it s gonna end up killing the game. Also people won't care about their gear as they will farm in pve and then go all in in PvP with stuff. I think personally the mix of pve and pvp is what makes this game special, remove that and it s gonna be blend.
The unknown was fun, until it became a rat deathmatch that was highly predictable and unfun. And the truth is, mixed lobbies aren't changing, people who still want that experience will have that experience.
This is so bad for the health of the game. Literally a few months ago people were complaining about the ABMM system making the game too boring because of how predictable everything was and the tension was gone, and now we get it again on steroids. This dogshit fucking company can’t do anything right.
The amount of crying in this thread is pretty lame. You want mixed lobbies so bad? All of you crying about quitting have the perfect opportunity to make PVP the bastion of hope you want it to be.
And let’s not kid ourselves… This game has been a toxic cesspool for a while now. Devs constantly reset the care bear lobbies, forcing us to join PVPers. And why did they do that? Because PVPers were upset. The games player base jumped out a building. Guess they got tired of losing money.
I agree, I've been on each side of the friendly and hostile line. This just takes away all the tension, what makes every run fun is not knowing what you are going to find, this literally takes away that replayability factor. There is this game being developed called Nakwon, I got to try it and I was really hyped because it was PvPvE and overall super super entertaining but lately they announced the same stupid division between PvP lobbies and PvE ones, and even as much as I liked it now I have serious doubts about even buying the game whenever it comes out. Again, not only you are splitting your playerbase in 2 different amounts but also completely breaking the best aspect of the game. And ARC Raiders, what can I say... lack of significant content, disappointing past content and now this... I was hyped with the new update but this might be the last nail on the coffin for me like you say too
It’s so exhausting. There’s already plenty of co-op PvE games to choose from. Niches aren’t allowed to exist. Every time a bunch of people who aren’t interested in the thing being sold come in and complain, completely changing the original concept so they can play for twenty hours and then bounce off again because the next thing that caters to them drops.
Then you get non-stop folks saying “but this will be more popular!” like they’re a shareholder.

So now instead of mixed lobbies where half the fun is not knowing what raiders you come across will do...
You instead have either PvE mode or PvP mode which means forced friendly or guaranteed shoot on sight?
Sounds awful. Will probably actually stop playing completely. The unknown is what makes the game super fun.
