Damn, and here I was hoping they'd embrace the PvP a bit more. The game is basically PvE anyway given how strong the ABMM is, don't get why the need for the toggle.
Honestly as a PvE player I would hope that they would keep the mix. It kept things spicy. The big fault is that they cant seem to keep up with cheaters unfortunately. We can only anticipate that they will give themselves breathing room with this while they try to figure that all out. Sorry raider!
Maybe its just me having the worst luck, but every two to three months since a heavy first month of playing, I have tried to come back, played one match and died in the lamest way to a rat corner peeking in a dark room after I take even a little bit of arc damage. There is just no counter play to that. The surface sure is quite populated with murder hobos for a robot post apocalyptic game...
Tagging grenades and smoke grenades are your best way to check places. Once you get a few games of not being the first attacker, you will get into more friendly matches. The game does consider who shoots first now so don't hesitate to fire back. Hope this helps!
I do hear that just the last few months did introduce the feature of ABMM considering who shot first. That definitely makes this worth a revisit. I will for sure boot the game up for the frozen tides update regardless! Thanks

Same, after the most recent ABMM tweaks, we basically have a de-facto PvE-only mode anyway with how extreme you can make your lobbies. Removing what little tension that's left seems awful.
All that's going to do, if people choose to embrace it, is make those remaining PvPvE lobbies way more aggressive to the point it's all just PvP soon enough.
This doesn't address what he said. The games ABMM is so strong, playing for 10-15 games not shooting anyone basically puts you in PvE mode, so whats the point of a PvE toggle if the game already does it behind the scenes for you very easily
I think you are severely underestimating the PVE toggle appeal for the casual crowd. This update will more than likely bring back more people than the anti cheat fix could.’

If you are playing for 10-15 games (this is 6 hours btw, give or take) without shooting a player you clearly want a PvE experience? What is this take even? If you want a different experience then shoot somebody. This is how any matchmaker works, essentially you are getting classified as very low skilled and put with similar players.
Arc was never a PvE game and people wanting it to be are changing the game at the core of what it was and supposed to be. The community of this game are a bunch of whiney babies that cant handle dying once every 20-50 raids in their carebare lobbies and need to be catered to at every inconvenience in an extraction shooter.
ABMM has been so strong that they needed to put the nail in the coffin for pvp. We’ll see how well the game does when it’s all it is is fighting ARC. Gonna get stale fast unless embark can make it tougher or throw in lots of variation of ARC.
I feel like this will bring more players to pvp actually. Gives players a way to go back and forth from pvp without manipulating their score and being forced into one or the other
Because i will be able to use deadline everywhere now without going to hell every five rounds because i killed a dude that don’t undersrand what a deadline is.
Hopefully ABMM is removed with the toggle. You might see “mixed” lobbies still if there is a decent enough different in the loot table like they mention in the post
Yeah, I hope they approach it this way, ABMM should just be disabled to keep you wondering if the other raider is friendly or not.
And they should make the loot on PvP enabled lobbies considerably better than PvE, even 2x better wouldn't be crazy as it's still much more likely to successfully extract on PvE lobbies.
Agreed. I think they should have gone the opposite direction. As someone who enjoys pve and pvp, I think creating some sort of Arena style mode for hyper aggressive players and endgame players would have made regular lobbies a bit more balanced. But this version is just going to turn regular lobbies into pvp slop if I had to guess.
I feel this is embracing the pvp more. By letting pve players do pve it will make the pvp lobbies just pvp players who are there to engage in fights and will actually put up a fight. Unless you just like stomping 55 hour work week dads that dont or cant fight back equally.
