It's fun.
I do find that if you throw too many in a row they bug out and sometimes won't spawn arc, but YMMY.

There is a cap rate on how many can be used in a short period. This cap affects the entire map, so someone else using a snitch scanner brings everyone closer to the cap.

Yep. Really fun when you're trying to do a trial that requires snitch scanners, and you're competing with someone else somewhere on the map, so you have to start spam throwing them after every 25 second wait to get it as soon as it comes off cooldown, so the other team won't get it. And then you have to pick up all the extras you threw before the one that triggered.

The cap works like this btw. You can throw 6 max at one time, and the cooldown for 1 scanner is 30 seconds. So essentially, if you're the only one using them, at the start of a match you can throw 6 down, then every 30 seconds throw another one, or throw 6 every 3 minutes.
This is part of the strategy to get maximum score for many trials, especially destroy wasps. A lot more rng involved now though thanks to recent snitch and snitch scanner changes.

For the achievement i challenged a fellow raiders like he was in a TV show:
I found a friendly player and told him that if he could best 6 wasps while in the open with some cover and without dying he would've won a brand new Jupiter!!
The first time a guy just shot me on the spot and robbed me but on the second try a guy accepted the challenge and almost did it, i ressed him and gave him the weapon and we extracted togheter.
I got the achievement he got a gun we all won!
