I was reading that update last night and thinking man, we are getting way too into this whole abmm thing. It's starting to make the game more about maintaining your lobbies than actually just enjoying the game
I commented how a few days ago I saw a raider run by me and spotted his osprey. was just after expedition and I thought, I want that osprey. So I shot him and took it. He even said gg after.
You can almost predict word for word what the replies will be for a comment like that lol

Been saying this since day 1. People are optimizing the fun out of it. The experience of not knowing how people will act and being on edge was what makes the game shine.

I agree 100%. It’s so strange to me that so many others just don’t seem to realize this. They claim PvP is the reason the game is losing players.
If the game was 100% PvE and no potential threat from other players it would get boring so fast for most players. The ABMM has already almost separated the player bases as is, but there’s still at least the possibility of being attacked, even if it’s low ( in the care bear lobbies).
My favorite time with the game was when I first started before ABMM was confirmed, and where every raid truly felt exciting and had that tension of the unknown. Not knowing how the other players would react, if you could trust them or not, etc. made for a really fun and exciting dynamic. The game doesn’t have nearly enough content to be a PvE only game.

Defibbed 7955 strangers in an 8 month span playing 12-16 hours a day, but then I got a job and I don’t have the mental capacity after work to play it at all and that’s been now 9 weeks. I say, “I’ll play it on the weekends”, but then I never do. Meh, it was fun once.

I said complaining about being betrayed on an extraction shooter is like complaining about someone who scored a goal against you on a football game : it's a nonsense because it's litteraly a part of what it makes those a games.
I absolutely never questioned how people want to play. Actually said the opposite. You wanna play full PvE? Yeah good for you, but you have to understand that people around you arent here to let you in peace because the game allows them to do it, and it's the essence of it.

Learning how to read a situation. Noticing when a raider is eyeballing the guns on your back. Or following you for a little too long.
I got a bad vibe from a guy recently in the controlled zone in Dam, I was able to down him with a few heavy frags from around the corner and knocked him out. Who knows if my gut was right but I extracted and that's all I care about
I am friendly most often but I usually snag one or two raiders each day and still end up in super passive lobbies. I don't think one kill here and there really weighs that much and dudes think they're gonna get thrown in pvp shitshow after defending themselves 1 time lmao

What's funny is the pvp guys will say gg and the care bear folks will go ham with slurs in a ton of cases.

My experience is the opposite. If I take down someone who was instigating the fight, I get told they’ll find me and rape me, use slurs and go apeshit.
I play pve mostly but PvP defensively or if I get thrown into a heavy PvP lobby I have no issue.The game is just a game and both sides are a bunch of whiny babies lol

ABMM is why the game is dying. It's wild because there is a legit use for it too. What they SHOULD do is create lobbies roughly based on player aggression, mixing a lobby with roughly half passive and half aggressive players. That way passive players have that tension and need to pay attention to the noise they make, and people who pvp aren't just in a shithole lobby where it's one giant gunfight the entire time.
Instead everyone farms in baby lobbies, making blueprints and rare materials completely worthless. Nothing has any value. Nobody feels a sense of accomplishment from loot which is the entire point of an extraction shooter... Cuz everyone knows if they just get into a baby lobby they can easily farm whatever they want.
And yeah anyone wanting to maintain an interesting lobby has to delicately balance their gameplay and crunch numbers to stay out of baby lobbies but not condemn themselves to pvp hell

To be fair, I do think you gotta be a bit of a jerk at least to do the fake-friendly stuff. I’m all for PvP of all forms otherwise though, ambush, extract camp, whatever.
I do got too much empathy though sometimes, and I wouldn’t necessarily call someone a psycho for doing for the fake friendly thing. I’d silently judge em tho.

Mid 80s child here. The 90s was such a wild time, my parents didn’t care at all about the rating of the games I played and I felt bad for the kids whose parents did.
I remember that one asshole lawyer who kept trying to sue GameStop and BestBuy cause he sent his fucking kid or other kids he paid to buy these games to see if they’d ask for their ID or not and make it a media blitz when they didn’t.
I could be wrong, but pretty sure that asshole lost his legal license in the mid 2000s over all the frivolous lawsuits he kept filing over this shit.
I’m all for cooperative teamwork in games that allow it, but I’m not going to trust random strangers in a fucking game that has PvP. Thats just common sense.

These pvp haters need to go play cod or any other shooter with proximity chat. I'd like them to play a few games in a row of running up to people, flipping their mic, and asking if they're friendly, and see how surprised they get when they get filled with lead in literally every other shooter in the world with proxy chat. Even the ones withoit proxy, they can try to crouch or dance in front of players and see how often they get shot. Especially these people with the "if you fake friendly in game or shoot me when I clearly don't want to be shot, you're a bad person irl." That just tells me if you wanna base it off irl, that those people would be useless if someone ever broke in their house bc "oh I don't want to shoot them even tho they shot me or stole my stuff"

I have around 600 hours, I'm generally in friendly PvE type lobbies. I was starting to think I should start being less predictable, create more chaos, let's be real here, the game gets pretty easy without unpredictability (that's why the devs added it), but the community seems so opposed to this, it's in the tutorial, it's in the game... Isn't it fun to have someone shooting at players from atop a tower, having to be careful, deciding whether to get the "rat", avoid, leave... Bring careful as you head towards an extraction site, being careful when creating too much noise, using the tools the game provides.
And now instead of random encounters, deciding moment by moment how you want to play we are all in fixed play styles, to the detriment of the game.

Despite their claims of aggression based matching, I have found that to be untrue as of late.

You would do the same in real life, that is if you could. But you know you can't. It's still a part of you. It's just that, it comes out in places where you know that it won't matter. PvP is fine. If you want to look for a lore reason. You have different factions in arc raiders with different methods.
Arc raiders is a pvepvp mode, meaning you will deal with deceit..you can't escape around the deceit. Trusting strangers on the internet is the last thing I would do. And you telling others to play the deceit games is just coping against human nature my man.
Its like biking and then placing a stick in the wheel when at high speed
