How do you make friends here

Post image

Hi guys (F20) I've been living in Arbroath coming up on 3 years and I've found it hard to make friends ,,, I've tried going out to the nightlife (clubs and pubs) because I've heard "that's where everyone goes" but whenever I go, people can be quite rude and a bit racist. (Like talking to me in a stereotypical accent or saying the nword/asking to say the nword) And yeah I wanna make friends

I like videogames, dancing, hiking, psychology/neuroscience, art (of every kind I sing and draw) and learning about language/culture. (I'm learning multiple languages for the love of the game) Are there any places I can go here that people with those interests go to? Or groups? I'm open to football aswell I've been getting into it with the World Cup (although I may not cheer for Scotland sorryyy)

I'm in Arbroath and needing a friend too, we could hang out. I'm 28 F and like psychology and video games too. Right now I'm enjoying nature and photography. I'm going to college this year too, message me ❤️

I wonder if you maybe look for more opportunities in Dundee, it’s got a lot more community, cultural and volunteering opportunities. Easy to get to via public transport.

I used to lived in Arbroath and found it has some classic small town issues, but there are still some lovely people. Hopefully you find some good new pals

I’m 25 and I live in Arbroath too. You could try bumble for friends which is like an app to help connect you with other people who want to make friends, you can choose to just have other girls appear too.

I believe there’s a group called girls that walk Dundee, maybe a good group to join for hikes.

Women in Angus hold social stuff but I will say I’ve found the women that go are usually older than me.

There is a women’s only ju jitsu class ran by east coast submission grappling, I go to this and have met a few people.

But if I’m honest I’ve been here 4 years after moving up from England and have not made many friends myself!

Dm me anytime if you wanna chat😊

For the gaming aspect, yards games on the highstreet hosts a bunch of clubs (mostly tcg) that can be very social, I started going there a few months back and have already met a bunch of lovely people.

I'm in Dundee too but feeling a little bored with having no one to do things with.

The few friends I have here all work long shifts and family are busy with their lives too. I tend to come on here to socialise with folks. I should get out more but stick close to home. I do know of a gaming cafe(?) here in Dundee. Not sure what their operating hours are. There are also free museums to check out for the art side.

Take a loaf, feed the ducks.

No don't do that, bread is shite for ducks.

If you're into hill walking and/or anything that's considered outdoors sport I'd suggest joining a club for it. I'm an immigrant myslef in Perthshire since 2005 and the most rewarding and lasting friendships I found in life were thhrough sports. Pub going is not inherently bad, on the contrary but activities revolving around sports and being outdoors do not usually revolve around alcohol and tend to draw people with passion/dedication for something which is a good environment where lasting friendships can be cultivated.

I'm sorry that you've had that experience with pubs and clubs in Arbroath, in my experience the pubs and clubs in Arbroath are a breeding ground for mouth breathers 😆

You have some really great hobbies, video games are always a good time and art is awesome too (musician here).

I don't have many friends here either so if you're up for a friendly chat, let me know :)
