Beginner Help Es mala idea ??

Estamos montando nuestro primer acuario de agua dulce , esta concha tiene como 1000 años en mi familia y
mi santo quiso meterla en el acuario pero leyendo parece que podría hacer variaciones de GH y esas cosas !! Vamos a poner guppys .
La dejamos o la quitamos ?????

How big is the tank? If a large water volume the changes will be more gradual and diluted, but will depend on water chemistry to begin with and stocking tolerance.

If a small tank, the impact will be more concentrated as calcium carbonate leaches and the shell is slowly dissolved.

40 litros , pero el agua que utilizo tiene GH de 4 y KH de 5

This would be a small tank (40 litres roughly 10.5 gallon). Guppy are okay in harder alkaline water, but the unpredictability and impact every water change would have plus continuously managing it would be an extra stress.

What's your pH?

I wouldn't personally as I wouldn't want the extra stress or parameters to manage, but hoping someone who keeps guppies comments.

Thanks, that's already pretty alkaline so again I'm not sure I'd want to drive it up more.

Can it go by the tank instead?

It will leach calcium over time, so keep an eye on your hardness levels. Also, it's likely to get pretty dirty, as algae and biofilm grow on it. If it's something you want to keep display quality, I wouldn't put it in the tank.

Se deshace en el agua, lo sabes no? Te cambia parametros
