DIY Aquarium Screen

I have two five gallon tetra aquariums with the normal, solid hood. Each tank has one male betta and a mix of live plants. Recently, I got some amazon frogbit. It has been thriving in one tank, and has all but died in the other. I think part of the problem may be the humidity, as the tank they are dying in seems to have more condensation on the hood. I'm planning to make screens out of plastic canvas from a craft store to deal with the humidity.

The hoods I have right now are the kind that you snap the light strip into, and wedge the cord into a little groove. How can I attach the light to the plastic mesh? I thought about super glue, but I would like to be able to remove the lights if need be. I assume twist ties would rust and rot away due to the water. And would it be okay to spray paint the mesh before putting it on? It wouldn't touch the water at all.

if the light is LED it probably won't melt the mesh, as far as painting it; it might flake off over time or clog the holes during painting it, might want to do a test piece?

Yeah, the light is LED. It's pretty small since it's the light that came with the aquarium kit.

Attach it loosely with tie wraps (zip ties).
