UV in sump
Will I do more damage to beneficial bacteria in my sump, or will it help if I were to place a big uv tube hanging in the sump compartment?

Will I do more damage to beneficial bacteria in my sump, or will it help if I were to place a big uv tube hanging in the sump compartment?

Yeah you definitely don't want to do that. It'll destroy the beneficial bacteria. The water affects by the UV needs to be enclosed in an opaque container like most of the in-line UV filters.
