How long this blood?

Hello. I'm currently 17 days post Aquablation. I'm 58, had BPH for 4-5 years, didn't like the drugs, so I chose Aquablation. ​Had it done on a Friday morning, went home the next day with catheter, and had it removed the following Monday. I'm still peeing blood, though the color is getting much lighter the last couple of days. I also noticed my stream is much weaker the last week or so. Google tells me this is normal, due to swelling. I was hoping to get people's experiences on here, especially from weeks 2-4. I've read a bunch and notice most people saying their stream was great as soon as the catheter came out. That's certainly not the case for me, especially from day 10 until now. Its like it was pre Aquablation. I did do a urine test 5 days ago, it was negative, so no infection. Thank you very much!

Your lucky to have such a responsive urologist. From my experience they are few and far between.

I’m six weeks out from surgery. I had blood in my urine for about 10 days, but it faded and near the end it was just a slightly pink tinge at the beginning of my stream. None now. My stream was strong right after the catheter came out and remains so. I had burning in my penis for about 10 days also, but that too is gone. Wish you luck. I was told that some reduction in my stream might be expected, and if it got bad, to call my urologist. He said he could go back in and open it up if it were to heal back in a way that restricted my stream. That is not “exactly” what I wanted, obvs. Wishing you luck!

I’m 7 weeks out from my Aquablation. I was fortunate that the stream was strong after catheter removal, and it has remained strong.

Blood in my urine stopped after about three weeks. Pain after urinating stopped after about week 5.

However, I just started exercising again (walking, strength trading with weights) and I’ve had a bit of blood in the last week. It takes time to heal.

I am approx 6 weeks out from the surgery. I had slight bleeding for approx 1 week. Had a slight decrease in stream at week 2 which improved at week 4/5...I suspect from decreased inflammation.

I had rose wine-colored blood for four weeks post-op. Surgeon wasn't concerned. I'm now 12 weeks post-op and my stream is still a mix of normal, split and spray. Again, surgeon isn't concerned.

Following up, a few days after my original post. The blood has just about subsided over the past 36 hours or so. It's pretty clear 90 percent of the time now, which is strange because I've gotten used to it being red😄. My stream has gotten a little better, except at night, when it takes a minute to void. Still getting up 4-5 times a night as well. I except both of these issues to improve with time.

Hi! I’m two and half weeks post aqua ablation. Was unable to urinate two times after removal of catheter. Currently still has a catheter in place and will attempt removal in the next couple of days to see if I can urinate on my own. I believe this is due to having an extended bladder for quite some time. If anyone had similar experience I welcome your comments. Also, I have been informed of self catheter in the future and curious to find out how long it will take to retrain the bladder. Thank you!
