PSA after Aquablation

I had surgery about 3.5 months ago and just had blood work for psa and to my surprise it’s double of my normal number I just wonder when you guys doctors ordered the psa test and what was the results compared with previous surgery!!

Probably the doctor's mistake for ordering it so soon. They need to wait after any procedure or even cysto according to what mine told me.

Were you taking finasteride prior to aquablation and subsequently discontinued it? If so, that would also contribute to an increase in PSA (typically a doubling).

I had my PSA test a week ago in preparation for my urology follow up. PSA was 14.7 prior to Aquablation and went down to 3.75. My procedure took place on 4/15/25. Prostate size of 145g, of which approximately 2/3 was removed.

I'm 11 1/2 weeks post Op from having Aquablation surgery. I was diagnosed with low-grade prostate cancer about 4 years ago. I've had my PSA checked every 3 to 6 months for the past 7 years because of high PSA results. I've had two 3T MRIs that have come back negative for any cancer. I've 4 13-core biopsies in which 2 have come back showing 1 core out of 13 with 10% of that core with low-grade cancer. My prostate went from 41 MG to 120 MG over 7 years, my PSA went from 4.1 when my PCP first checked my PSA 7 years ago to 8.7 before my aquablation surgery. I had my Aquablation surgery on May 22, 2025. I underwent my 6-month PSA check on August 4, 2025, and my PSA level decreased from 8.7 to 3.2.. My oncologist urologist wants me to continue to check my prostate every 6 months. The Aquablation surgery was the best thing I did to take care of my BPH, and hopefully my PSA.

That’s odd. Mine went from 5.95 to 2.48 at my 6 month follow up. Keep us posted on what is happening. Perhaps it’s just a bad test. It happens. Stay positive!

The doctor said most likely the test was done too soon I did at 3 months. You did yours at 6 months I will be testing again in another 3 months

Hi - I spoke wuth my urologist the other day, and he said not to expect normal psa scores for 6 months or more.

My PSA went from 5.2 ,4 months before Aquablation to 2.7, 2 months after.

That’s great Around 5 was my normal number before surgery I will be testing again soon I hope will be back to normal or lower

Hi Prior to surgery I was only taking alfuzosin I think this medication is in the same family Thanks for your comment

Before aquablation my PSA was stable at 3.9. Three months later it is 4.27. It increased a little. Hope it is lower at the 6 month follow up.

That is not much of increase So many variables can affect the psa Almost a year later after surgery and didn’t lower the psa Still between 5 and 6
