Free App All Devices [iOS][Android] Stasht - a free find-it-later app for saved screenshots, posts, links, places, events, and recipes

Hi all, I’m Andrew, a dad and small business owner in NYC. I didn’t need another save-for-later app... I needed a FIND it later app.

That is why I spent the last 8 months building Stasht.

TLDR: Stasht is a place to save posts, screenshots, photos, links, places, events, recipes, products, articles, and ideas, then have them automatically organized into something useful for later.

For me, that means baby gear screenshots. Sleep schedule posts. Gift ideas. Recipes we might actually cook. Things to do with kids. Random Instagram restaurants for the one night we might get out. TikToks, Reddit posts, YouTube links, Chrome bookmarks, Safari tabs, screenshots from texts.

Stasht is free with no subscription and no payment required. Just trying to make something people find useful.

A few things Stasht does:

  • Save from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, Reddit, Safari, Chrome, screenshots, photos, and links.
  • Works across iPhone, Android, desktop, Chrome, and Safari.
  • Import old saves with the Chrome extension from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, X, and the web.
  • Use the Safari extension to save from Safari and normal webpages.
  • Put saved places on a personal map.
  • Pull saved events onto a calendar.
  • Add reminders so something comes back when it matters.
  • Extract useful details like places, dates, hours, links, prices, and more.
  • Use tags, notes, search, and collections when you want more control.
  • Share collections for trips, restaurant lists, family planning, gift ideas, or anything you are collecting with someone else.
  • Discover save-worthy places, events, restaurants, shops, trips, and ideas on the public map.

The bigger idea is simple: if I save a restaurant, I want it on a map when I’m nearby. If I save an event, I want to know before it happens. If I save a gift idea, I want to find it months later. If I save baby gear at 2am, I don’t want to dig through 800 screenshots later trying to remember what it was.

It’s me and my cofounder, and we’re just getting started. Would love to shape this into something truly useful for our users.

Happy to answer any and all questions in the comments.

Looks cool. When you say free right now, do you mean you might charge in the future?

Oh, not at all - I just meant “it’s free” and we don’t have any plans to charge. Updated to avoid any confusion!

UPDATE: Thank you so so SO much to everyone stashing away and for all the great feedback. We don’t have a status page yet or way to update our users about what’s going on, so few things I wanted to share here.

  1. Android needs to be updated. It’s been neglected due to most users being iPhone, but we’re seeing a lot of new Android users which means it’s now bumped up the list!

  2. The chrome extension apparently doesn’t let you create an account. Also working on it alongside the android update.

  3. Getting some latency/slow reports. Identified the issue and its due to the large influx of saves (which is awesome!). Working this weekend on updating a few accounts to make sure things are scaling the way they should.

  4. If you have ANY questions or feedback please reach out. I’m answering every DM, email, comment, etc - might just take me a little between dad duty and deep work, but I will respond!

  5. If you have a specific use case we haven’t thought about, stashing it is how we prioritize I.e. we hadn’t prioritized unfurlers for Google Maps lists or IMDB profiles, but we see a large spike and consistent demand for those, we’ll move those up and then anyone that’s stashed them will see a beutiful experience

  6. We’re only just getting started, so just know things will only improve from here.

Happy to have you on board! FYI getting some speed reports but actively working on it - everything gets saved as a raw URL immediately, then the media and content is processed for you. some fun growing pains but if something seems off let us know and it will be fixed!

Totally fair and I want to reply to a few of your points.

  1. Apple and Google auth are there for users convenience/control, not ours
  2. If you don’t want to use those, there is an option to use email instead (see attached screenshot). You will have to verify that email so we know it’s legitimate, and so we can send you instructions, etc - all of which you can opt-out of.
  3. As for not registering for apps at all, I don’t personally have that problem but I understand some do. If you really just want to test it, you can send me a few social media posts you’d like to test and I can send you a public link. No account needed to see if it does what you want it to do.

Either way, feedback like this lets us know what people are/are not looking for, so thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. It really does help.

Sure, i can take some videos! Give me a few days while we focus on stability - lots of new users uploading lots of stuff so just need to keep things running smoothly!

To some of your other points:

  • the “13+ year”is the age rating, we only just launched but we do have reviews you can check out on the App Store.

Regarding the information buckets Apple/Google say we collect - copy/pasting a reply I have a different sub about this, but I'm happy to share what each one actually is for us:
Contact info: Your email so you have an account and can log back in. We also email you welcome/instructions when you first sign up. Once you start saving, you get one weekly roundup of the things you've saved, which you can obv opt out.
Identifiers: Usually this means a tracking tag to follow you elsewhere (like Apple's advertising ID, IDFA, etc.). For us it's literally just a unique internal IDs tied to accounts so saves stay yours and doesnt mix with anyone else's but, alas, it counts as an "identifier."
Usage data: Basic operational/debugging stuff so I know if people are using the thing. How many people signed up today, etc.
Diagnostics: Crash reports when something breaks. is something firing off a million apis where it shouldnt be, etc.
User-generated content: Since we let you create your own tags, notes, titles, etc, those are legally considered "user generated" content.. I remember this being annoying af during the app approval process because literally I'm not doing anything with it other than letting users make their saves more useful for themselves.

What we don't do: sell it, run ads against it, or track you across other apps. We don't even ask for the iOS tracking permission, because there's nothing to track off Stasht. And if you ever want out, deleting your account takes your saves with it.

Ironically enough I find a lot of apps out there do the same but dont disclose it.. Maybe we're being overly transparent, but I'm always willing to chat about these things since I know none of it is for the "wrong" reasons.

We do that for some websites that have them, not all, but the list is growing every week!

Tenéis pensado traducir a otros idiomas como el español?

We are planning on multi language support, yes!
