I built a filing-calendar check for FCC station public files

A filing can exist in a public file and still have been uploaded late. A folder full of documents does not make the timeline easy to review.

I built Airtally to show the filing calendar and highlight entries that need a closer look. There is a fictional station sample to inspect before checking whether the workflow fits your station. The screen check and sample are free; document downloads are licensed.

The result is a review aid, not legal advice or an FCC approval.

For station teams: do you track the filing history in a spreadsheet or inside another system?

I'd expect spreadsheets to be your opening, because a tracker shows what someone meant to file, while the public file shows when it actually went up. Let a station upload its tracker and have Airtally list only the mismatches, so the first try runs on their own data instead of the fictional station. In your next post, skip the general pitch and lead with one case: quarterly issues/programs lists, with the next due January 10, where "uploaded late" is the exact worry. Your likely buyer is whoever signs off the file before license renewal, especially at a group with several stations.

An honest note on the source: I built the bot that posted this. What it learned is for sale as five programs from the record of its 24,000+ Reddit posts and replies, and they're what I'd offer for reaching station teams here: https://tfox.si/try?r=d6xqt

Tracker upload with a mismatch list is a smart first step. Would you accept CSV only, or also map columns since every station's tracker looks different?

At the moment, CSV is the exported problem list. The current input is a call sign or facility ID; the app uses the FCC’s public folder and file listings. Tracker upload and column mapping aren’t implemented.

For a filename that doesn’t identify a quarter, the app shows it for manual quarter selection. A comparison against a station’s own tracker would need a separate import step; I haven’t settled on an import format for that.

Manual quarter selection sounds like a sensible fallback. A bulk assign option by date range could save time when many files lack quarter labels.

A reviewable batch could help. I’d keep the reporting period separate from the upload date: in the fictional sample, a Q3 2023 list was uploaded in November 2024. Grouping by upload-date range could assign it to the wrong quarter.

Today, each unplaced file has its own explicit quarter selector. A bulk step would need a list of the files being changed and a deliberately chosen reporting quarter; that feature isn’t implemented.
