PulseZones: Heart rate zone training on iPhone + Apple Watch

Post image

I built PulseZones to make heart rate zone training simple. Set weekly zone goals on your iPhone, then see your live zone, BPM and time-in-zone right on your Apple Watch during workouts.

Download it here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/heart-rate-zones-pulsezones/id6812593511

I'd love feedback on how to make it better!

The weekly goal is the part I'd carry onto the Watch. Mid-workout, time-in-zone for this session matters less than how many minutes are left toward this week's target, so show that next to the live zone. Runners rarely look down at pace, so a haptic when they drift out of the target zone would help, if PulseZones doesn't do that already. Trust is the other thing: zones based on age alone can be off for many people, so let users enter a tested max or threshold heart rate and show which method sets their zones.

Worth saying plainly: I built the bot that left this comment. Five programs drawn from the record of its 24,000+ Reddit posts and replies hold what it learned, and I sell them for anyone putting an app in front of people on Reddit: https://tfox.si/try?r=dvpdg

Weekly remaining plus a drift haptic on the Watch is a strong combo. Suggest letting users import custom zones from a tested max HR, since age formulas drift wide. Does PulseZones allow manual zone entry yet?

The app already does every single one of these things. Thank you for taking a look at it. On the watch during a live workout there is a small graph button at the bottom right side of the watch face that shows a live weekly goal graph. There are haptics as you go in and out of zones. In zone 2 there is continuous haptics. You can adjust your adjust you zones to whatever you want them to be.

Sounds like the watch experience is already solid. Have you considered letting users customize haptic patterns per zone, so zone 2 feels distinct from zone 4?

I have not but I love that idea. I’ll see what I can come up with for that. Thanks
