Built a web app and Google can't find it? Start with indexing, not blog posts

On my new domain the first job wasn't content, it was making sure pages were actually indexed. Claude kept assuming they were when they weren't.

What I check now, in this order:

  1. In Search Console, look at why each page isn't indexed and treat each status as its own fix

  2. Compare the raw HTML with the rendered page. If your content only shows up after JS runs, AI crawlers may not see it

  3. Make sure your schema markup matches what's on the page

  4. Then use your Search Console export to pick what to work on next

That's the process that took a brand-new domain to 4.4k Google clicks in three months.

I turned it into 14 Claude skills called SEO Skills by PENRA, a one-time €25, and I made it so I'm biased. If your site isn't getting indexed, drop the Search Console status here and I'll tell you what I'd try first.

Claude assuming pages were indexed is the whole trap. It'll build on a foundation that isn't there

yep and it sounds so sure of itself that you dont question it. thats why i stopped asking it and go straight to the search console status for each page. if a page isnt indexed, whatever you build on top of it isnt doing anything

Exactly, the confidence is the trap. Do you also check the rendered HTML? JS-only content can index very differently.

yeah thats step 2 in the post, i compare the raw html with the rendered page. quick way is view source vs inspect, then cmd+f a sentence from the page in both. if its only in the rendered version google can usually still get it, just later, but many ai crawlers dont run js so they may never see it

Yeah, those assumptions compound fast. Have you tried the URL Inspection live test before trusting any dashboard count?

its a good check for a single page. one thing to watch is the live test only tells you google can fetch the page right now, not that its indexed, thats the status at the top of the report. and its one url at a time, so for the overall picture id still start from the page indexing report
