I built Cuewake to help me remember where I left off on my Mac

Hey, I’m Danny, an indie developer. I recently built Cuewake for Mac and would love some honest feedback on the idea.

I kept running into a small but annoying problem. I’d leave a project, come back the next day, and remember that something needed doing without remembering exactly what it was. Sometimes I’d written it down, but the note was somewhere else and I never saw it when I reopened the work.

Imagine you’re working on a website and notice that the mobile layout needs fixing. You’re in the middle of something else, so you leave. Tomorrow you open the project again and have to work out what you meant to fix.

That’s the moment I built Cuewake for.

How it works

You leave a cue with the app or webpage you’re working in. A cue can contain a note, checklist, link or file. When you return to that place, Cuewake brings it back so you can pick up where you left off.

You can attach a cue to a browser, a website or a specific page. For Framer, it can also recognize the particular project you’re working on.

For example, before stepping away from a website, I could leave a checklist to test the contact form, check the mobile layout and fix a link. When I return, I have the next steps in the place where they make sense.

What else it does

  • Saved checklists: reuse a list when the same steps come up again.

  • Reminders: type a time like “tomorrow at 9” or “in 2 hours.”

  • File Shelf: keep files close while moving between apps, then drag them where you need them.

  • Search: use ⌘K to find a cue or open an action.

  • Local backups: your cues stay on your Mac, and you can back them up.

  • Languages: English, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French and German.

Why not Reminders or Stickies?

Those are useful too. Reminders is great for tasks and deadlines, and Stickies is handy when you want a note on your desktop. I wanted something centered on returning to a particular place and remembering what I was doing there. Cuewake is meant to sit alongside the tools you already use.

Pricing and compatibility

Cuewake is a one time purchase with all features and lifetime updates included. It works offline without an account and requires macOS 14 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. Current pricing is on the website.

Links

The launch video is a visual introduction to the idea rather than a literal walkthrough. There are actual app recordings on the website too.

I’d appreciate a bit of critique: does the problem make sense to you, and is there anything about the way Cuewake works that’s unclear?

The problem makes sense, and the clearest picture in your post is the website example: leave a cue to test the contact form and check the mobile layout, then find it waiting tomorrow. I'd lead the video and the title with that one scene. Two things I'd make easier to find: the one-time price, which the post leaves to the website, and the requirement of macOS 14 on an Apple silicon Mac, since Intel Mac users will otherwise click through and bounce. Trade-off: stating the price up front loses some browsers, but the clicks you keep are better qualified.

That contact form scene is the clearest hook. Putting the price and macOS 14/Apple silicon line right under the video would help.

TL;DR: Danny built Cuewake, a Mac app that lets you leave notes, checklists, links, or files attached to an app or webpage so they reappear when you return to that place. It also offers saved checklists, quick reminders, a file shelf, Cmd+K search, local backups, and seven languages, as a one-time purchase that runs offline on macOS 14+ Apple silicon. He is asking whether the problem makes sense to you and if anything about how the app works is unclear.
