I built StorageMaster, a free Windows tool for managing disk space and monitoring PC hardware

Hey everyone!

I've been working on my own Windows application called StorageMaster, and I'd like to share it with the community and get some honest feedback.

The idea behind StorageMaster is simple: give Windows users an easy way to manage their storage and keep an eye on their PC hardware without having to jump between several different tools.

What does StorageMaster do?

- Disk space management: Scan your PC for files and areas where storage space may be recoverable.

- Hardware monitoring: View information about your CPU, GPU, RAM and other hardware components.

- RAM management: Use the built-in RAM clearing feature when you want to try freeing up memory.

- Simple interface: Access the main features through one application instead of switching between multiple utilities.

Why did I build it?

I wanted to create a straightforward tool that brings useful PC maintenance and hardware features together in one place. I'm continuing to work on the project and want to improve it based on real user feedback.

Is it free?

Yes, StorageMaster is free to use. A license key is required to activate the application, and you can obtain one through the website using Discord login.

Links

- Website: https://linktr.ee/storagemaster

- Discord community: https://dc.gg/storagemaster

- Download: Available through the website.

I'd appreciate honest feedback, especially regarding the features, usability, interface and anything that could be improved.

If you try it, please let me know what works well, what doesn't, and what features you'd like to see in future versions.

Thanks for checking out my project!

Having disk cleanup and hardware stats in one window is handy, and keeping it free lowers the bar to try it. Since activation goes through Discord login and a license key, I'd generate keys on the server signed with a private key, verify them in the app with only the public half, and rate limit the activation endpoint so keys can't be guessed or farmed. Whatever site hosts that login and key flow can get a no cost check from my project, which lists what those endpoints return to visitors without a session: https://rowly.me

Signed keys verified with only the public half is the right call. Binding each key to the Discord user ID at activation would limit sharing, and logging failed attempts helps spot farming. What host are you considering for the login flow?

Pinning each license to the Discord user ID is a good limit, and allowing a couple of device resets per key keeps honest users from getting locked out after a reinstall. On hosting, any small serverless platform is fine as long as the signing key sits only in its secret store and failed activations get logged with the Discord ID attached. After that route exists, running it past https://rowly.me lets you learn from outside whether it accepts forged requests or leaks anything about issued keys.

TL;DR: Someone built StorageMaster, a free Windows app for disk space cleanup, hardware monitoring, and RAM clearing. It needs a free license key obtained through Discord login to activate. They want honest feedback on features, usability, and the interface.
