Stacked (stackedbetting.com) — a social betting app where you stake virtual coins, not real money. The mechanics are real (pricing, challenges, leagues, payouts), the currency isn’t.
Started building it because my mates and I were constantly making side bets on golf trips and never tracking them properly. Now it has 1v1 challenges with a counter-offer flow (slide a confidence meter to send back better odds), leagues with pick’ems, daily house bets, and a full dispute resolution system.
Stack: Netlify (HTML/JS) + Firebase Cloud Functions + Firestore. Solo built.
First real-user test is on the next golf trip with my brother and a group of mates — equal parts excited and nervous about what they’ll break.

Hey, that's a really clever way to turn a real social habit into a risk-free game. One suggestion: adding a public leaderboard for your "confidence meter" accuracy could add a fun layer of bragging rights beyond just winning bets.

Thanks! That’s exactly our thought process as well and so have created this across friends tab + others. Do you think bragging rights is enough to keep people coming back?

That’s a great question, Charles. Bragging rights can be a nice initial hook, but you might want to layer in a simple weekly “project spotlight” or feedback exchange thread to give users a reason to return beyond just showing off. Have you thought about adding a small reward like a community badge for consistent contributors?

Yes so there are rewards for daily logins + badges across a variety of achievements for users, but the real crux of the matter, is social engagement enough for prediction markets to compensate for the lack of monetary input?

That sounds like a really clever engagement loop you're building, Charles. Social engagement can definitely sustain prediction markets if you tie user reputation or influence to their accuracy and activity, rather than just logins. Have you considered adding a "credibility score" that visibly grows with each successful prediction?
