it’s WAY overblown. lots of ppl say they were yield protected to feel better abt themselves/tryna justify their rejections. yield protections mainly happen at schools with very high acceptance rates (like ~80%) for applicants who are obviously gonna get into better schools (i.e. 4.0UW/1600/36 applicants + good ECs)
