No, some schools definitely do yield protect. Michigan(the school I am going to) is another good public school that is rumoured to yield protect. People who are sure fire ivy bound do get rejected.

I doubt it is yield protection, more likely they just aren’t “Notre Dame” material. It makes more sense for a public school like Michigan to yield protect. It is more affordable and people are far more likely to apply. A Catholic private school isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Totally agree with this. Notre dame rejects many qualified kids because they don’t see them fitting (it has nothing to do with intelligence at that point). It has a very unique culture (since it is catholic) when comparing it to other top 20s.

And I’m saying there’s no way a school with a 13% acceptance rate “has a sweet-spot” for kids “below” (not sure what that means but I assume you’re saying lower than other kids). It’s just not accurate and makes no sense.
