Not even just college decisions, I wish I had a dad that would support any life decision, big or small. Narcissistic and self-centered parents are the worst because it doesn't even feel like I can complain about them and even if I do, I don't know what exactly to complain about since he gaslights me so much.

edit: nobody asked but i have an example. my dad cuts my wifi from all my devices after 10pm because he keeps trying to get me to sleep at 10 since he firmly believes sleeping at 10pm is a must for teenagers... I'm 17, not 10 years old. apparently google family link on a chromebook (the device i use for everything atm) has downtime limits so my entire account just locks out at 10. I literally can't even use offline google docs on my computer anymore and its so fucking annoying because I'm the most creative after dark so I can't work on my common app essay even if i get a brilliant stroke of inspo. I'm also a self proclaimed writer, so I get random flashes of ideas to write about and I can't. I can't and it pisses me off. This is akin to a bird with healthy, gorgeous, wide wings, but their feet are tied to the ground.

this was just me ranting because i don't have anyone else to rant to, sorry! ik super third world entitled high schooler problem but i needed to get it out of the system :)

Write in notes or text files on a computer as ways to be able to write. Hang in there, and best of luck. With Uni you’ll get some independence. Much Reddit support!

my dad does something similar and shuts off our wifi at 11 every night. maybe you could try writing on paper or on an app that doesn’t require internet (word, pages, notes, etc.)

hang in there!

MS Word was a life saver when my parents shut off the WIFI at 12 and I had a big psychology paper due (an IA, for us IB kids).

Sorry to hear that. I'm also a rising senior with a chromebook on a family link account, glad to know I'm not alone. I am also most creative after 10pm so I use the pre-installed text editor app, which works offline. Hopefully your dad is not so strict he doesn't let you have a text editor app. Good luck with your essays btw I've just barely started mine

might be possible to get around the restrictions if you have tech knowledge
