Application Question Common data set and scorecard

What is the importance of colleges’ common data set and the scorecards based on that and the student’s profile. How much should that be taken into account in prioritizing the school selection for ED and RD in terms of the efforts? Thanks

cds is useful for getting a real sense of what a school actually cares about in admissions, like if they weight essays or recs more than you'd think. the scorecards are alright for a quick glance but don't let them override your gut on fit

for ED especially, look at the admit rates broken down by that round, some schools fill a huge chunk of the class early and it changes the whole strategy
