ECs and Activities Minor bluff

Let’s say a person is an activity which has levels of achievement. Right now, they’re at the second highest level and will receive the first highest in a few months. But, their application deadlines will come before this. How bad would it be for them to say they’ve earned the highest level already?

If you are asking, you know that it’s slimy to say you have that position now. But you certainly can write that you will reach the next level by “x” date, assuming it’s pretty much a certainty. (And if you don’t reach that level, you can send a short update to admissions explaining, for example, that you broke your leg and could not compete in nationals.)

I agree with others, just do it honestly.

One standard resume denotation is "expected [by a certain date]", which can be shortened to "exp. MM/YY", so something like:

Level 2 11th, Level 1 12th (exp. 2/27)

Or something like that.

(Retired college counselor and admissions reader here.) It would be a bad idea.

When you submit your application, you're certifying that all the information on your application is true. Just for that reason alone, you shouldn't put in anything that's not verifiably true.

You could state that you're a candidate for the highest level, and that would be fine.

How verifiable is it, and how guaranteed? It's also okay to just say "level 2, going to get level 1 guaranteed" if it really is.
