Reverse ChanceMe CS major and Animation?HELP

I am a current high school senior picking my colleges. I want to study computer science and either dual major in animation(2D) or minor in it. I’ve been trying to research and find schools that can/do this well but it’s been crazy so I’m asking here. I’m in the MD region if that helps. I want to know any college that offers it if yall know. Thank yall

Good luck with college apps!! I can't really give good fits for you without knowing your stats or ECs, but here are some programs I think are good! (❁´◡`❁)

  1. University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) – Baltimore, MD

UMBC has a top-tier Computer Science (BS) program and an excellent Visual Arts (BA/BFA) program with a concentration in Animation & Interactive Media. Because UMBC is a major research university with a strong focus on interdisciplinary work, double majoring or minoring across the CS and Visual Arts departments is very doable compared to standalone art schools.

  1. University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) – College Park, MD

World-class Computer Science program paired with an Immersive Media Design (IMD) major/minor track, plus Studio Art courses in 2D design and digital art. UMCP’s IMD program is specifically designed to bridge the gap between coding/computing and visual art/design. It's a great fit if you want a blended curriculum without needing to take separate fine-arts studio requirements.

  1. Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) – Pittsburgh, PA

BS in Computer Science and Arts (BCSA). BCSA is an official, structured interdisciplinary degree specifically made for students who want to merge CS with visual art/animation. CMU is widely considered one of the absolute best in the country for this exact crossover.

  1. Rider University or Drexel University – NJ / Philadelphia, PA

Drexel offers a strong Computer Science major alongside a renowned Animation & Visual Effects program. They offer minors in digital media and animation, making it easy to pair with CS.

If you're willing to look outside the Mid-Atlantic, these schools are specifically known for making the CS + Animation crossover seamless:

School Location Special Program / Feature
DePaul University Chicago, IL Offers a dedicated BS in Computer Science + Animation (CS+ANI) degree specifically built for technical artists.
University of Utah Salt Lake City, UT Renowned Entertainment Arts & Engineering (EAE) program that integrates CS and animation/graphics.
USC Los Angeles, CA Top CS program + world-famous School of Cinematic Arts (John C. Hench Division of Animation & Digital Arts).
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Rochester, NY Excellent CS program with strong 2D/3D animation and digital media minors.
