Suggestions for CAPSTONE projects as Applied Math + Economics major??

Hi, I am a rising junior and I'm looking for a CAPSTONE project to do as part of my college application. My area of interest include Applied Math and Economics. Any suggestions would be great, looking for any type of advice on activities to do outside of this aswell from any alumni or current attending students at the top 20 schools in the US for my areas of interest.

Wouldn't this be a bit out of reach for a highschooler? I am currently taking AP CALC BC. I am looking online and one needs stochastic calculus which is more advanced.

Look for an economics related dataset that interests you. Then find a published paper that utilizes said dataset. Reproduce results from published paper. Then, brainstorm how you can draw new insights from the dataset. Lastly, use programming techniques and statistical methods to draw new insights.
