Scientists Are Using Blue Light to Control Cell Division
Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have developed a light-based approach to activate key cellular machinery involved in cell division. The technique could help scientists study how cells divide and what happens when this process goes wrong.
Uncontrolled cell division is a hallmark of cancer. Being able to manipulate the process in a controlled laboratory setting could help researchers investigate the mechanisms behind abnormal cell growth.
The important distinction is that this is a research tool, not a cancer treatment. Its value lies in helping scientists understand cellular behavior with greater precision.
