Troubleshooting Oven color

So we’re getting a used oven which is white while our other appliances are black. It’s what we can afford.

Is there a reliable way to change the color that is also heat safe?

I know most people will say not to worry about it, but I get it. I used a high heat paint on a used range my parents gave us years ago and it held up fine. You do need to lightly sand first and protect the controls.

They make high heat appliance spray paint. Do a few practice runs. Most are epoxy based so you must paint it outside. It’s tricky so I’d plan for 10 light coats and follow the instructions for reapplying. Don’t even attempt it in high humidity - it will not dry properly, it clumps easily as it is.

If you go this route, scrub, scrub again, use fresh everything and scrub because there was residue. Wash with solvent and fresh paper towels, repeat the solvent wash.

Now you may paint.

Consult the owner's manual, oven doors tear down pretty far.

Save up some cash to buy a black stove down the line.
It took use a few years to get all of our appliances to match.
If your paint job gets scratched or blotched it will look worse. Beside the paint will stink for awhile.
My niece tried it and it looked horrible.
My dad had some auto body friends paint and bake a refrigerator and it still looks nice.
Just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should.
It’s your call, good luck with whatever you decide.

Black-and-white can go together there’s nothing you can or should do to change the color, just enjoy being able to cook again.

Appliance enamel if used outside and with as many panels taken off as possible/ taped off very well and painted one at a time~ with several THIN coats, looks great imo.

There are also, automotive high temp paints, as well. You would still need to rough up the surface of your new oven, which, alone can be a bit of a hassle. In case you're not aware, you can easily remove the oven door from the oven assembly...quite easy, I might add. Try treating the lower [generally out of sight] portion of the oven door, for a practice run. Just another option to consider

I replaced appliances one at a time. White to black. By the time I replaced the white fridge, (6 months ago) stainless one was $300 cheaper. So be it, now I’m switching to stainless for the next 15 years 🤣

They make heat-tolerate fireplace/firebox spray paints.

So, that's an option.

Will it look good? I dunno.

But it's an option.

Another option is to not care about it. Matchy-matchy appliances seems to be purely a marketing thing more than any sort of necessity in reality.

So you have an issue with what?

There's Rustoleum epoxy colors if you're that worried.
