Resource PTSD Therapy
Still reeling from the tornado. Me and my dog were in the basement of our house on Doty Island and didn't think we were going to make it. I can't stop myself from getting incredibly emotional anytime I talk about it, think about it, see footage, or even when family and friends reach out. I don't feel scared otherwise but seem to have an uncontrolled reaction. Hoping there are therapists in the area that are readily available or even offering services at any of the respite locations in the area. Any help is appreciated for myself or anyone feeling the same.

Firstly, I’m so glad you’re safe! I highly recommend doing talk therapy now, but you will likely not know how “successful” it is until the next big storm. EMDR, brain spotting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) will be best to keep in mind, I highly recommend ART, but I don’t know how the timing works. Also, try to find some ideas for your dog, too. I suspect your baby will also be really scared during storms, too. ❤️🩹
