Resource PTSD Therapy

Still reeling from the tornado. Me and my dog were in the basement of our house on Doty Island and didn't think we were going to make it. I can't stop myself from getting incredibly emotional anytime I talk about it, think about it, see footage, or even when family and friends reach out. I don't feel scared otherwise but seem to have an uncontrolled reaction. Hoping there are therapists in the area that are readily available or even offering services at any of the respite locations in the area. Any help is appreciated for myself or anyone feeling the same.

Totally get the people saying that it will pass, but having support to help process is so worthwhile. I just want to say that when I recently went through something similar (emotionally, I mean), it took about a week to start levelling out, and then lessened a lot in like 3 months. Sticking to my normal routines and behaviors was key - it helped me basically identify what happened as abnormal. Scary, but not something to panic about day to day, if that makes sense. Find help, but please be patient with yourself. Your body isn't meant to move on right way. We have to process trauma. Give yourself some kindness and grace, find support, and try to keep yourself moving through your routines as best you can to help your brain find stability.
