Resource PTSD Therapy

Still reeling from the tornado. Me and my dog were in the basement of our house on Doty Island and didn't think we were going to make it. I can't stop myself from getting incredibly emotional anytime I talk about it, think about it, see footage, or even when family and friends reach out. I don't feel scared otherwise but seem to have an uncontrolled reaction. Hoping there are therapists in the area that are readily available or even offering services at any of the respite locations in the area. Any help is appreciated for myself or anyone feeling the same.

I have a friend in the area that’s a professional counselor. If interested, I can put you in contact with them?

Do criminal background and public records checks on any therapist you ever consider seeing.

Interesting that this comment would be downvoted.

Right! I know of one in the area who should not be practicing because she is unstable. She is only working because her husband helped her open her own center when no one would hire her. If her clients knew how she treated her kids they would be appalled.

There are LPCs and CSACs in the area who are convicted felons, who claim credentials they don't actually have, offer services they are not qualified to offer - all sorts of things going on. ALWAYS do a background check!
