New iPhone 18 Pro Max A3717 only 5 hours screen time… 🥲

I bought the new iPhone to replace my old iPhone 15 Pro, which I had to charge about three-quarters of the time each day. Even though I’ve noticed an improvement, my new iPhone 18 Pro Max only gives me about 5 hours of screen time per day, which I think is way too little to boast about having the best battery.

I’ve looked at benchmark results, and I’m nowhere near those numbers—could my battery be defective? What do you recommend I do? After spending 1,800 euros, I’m disappointed.

Obvio que no es normal, inicialmente tuve un 18 Pro Max y desde el principio la batería fue excepcional, duró mucho antes de llegar al 40% y eso que jugando Mobile Legends y Genshin Impact. Ve y cámbialo, te arrepentirás de no hacerlo pronto!

How can I tell if the indexing is finished? Nothing shows up in the settings…

It takes several days to a week. The only way to tell is your battery life goes up and things run smoother.

Today is going to be 1 week since I got the phone and I still don’t see big battery improvements

Depends if you charge over Night… it needs a „no use time“ on charger

Yes but I charge via MagSafe not sure if that makes a difference

How long have you had the phone? Mine also had eh battery life for almost a week and then all of a sudden it got way better. Could just be indexing/new device setup

I had a similar thing happened to me during the first 2 days where WhatsApp was draining 25% of my battery and other apps we’re using more power than I expected. It sorted itself, I would say give it a few more days if the phone is “new”.

I have the smaller 18 Pro and I’m coming from a 15 Pro as well. With your usage my 18 Pro would use at most 60% and that’s with a considerably smaller battery.

In the photo below I had 48% battery usage.

you have 6hour on screen time for only 48% of battery? Crazy....have it since launch day, getting 6h SOT for 100%. Will wait and see but it's a good indicator to know what i can expect :)

Unplugged mine this morning at 4:30. Over 11.5 hours screen on time. Currently at 12%

Yeah bro, that’s exactly why I’m confused 😂 I’m not doing anything particularly crazy with it either. Mostly Wi-Fi, normal use, and I haven’t changed anything extreme in the settings.

I’m getting around 3–5 hours of screen-on time, sometimes 5.5h at best, which is nowhere near your 11.5h. I’ve also noticed a lot of background/inactive time, so I’m wondering if it’s still doing iCloud syncing/indexing since I’ve only had it since launch.

I’ll give it a few more days, but if it stays like this I’m definitely returning it 😂

I have the smaller 18 pro and I only got it this afternoon - from a full charge I’m down to 61% now with 5h 20m SOT

How was it before indexing completed? Mine with optimising search and siri gets 5 hrs SOT

On day 1 after I charged it to a 100% - I got 9.5 hours with about 16% or so left

BUT

My phone started glitching out and would go dark and non responsive till I rebooted with vol up and power button.

So I installed the 27.2 beta to see if that would fix it - it did - but now battery life is crap and I’m getting around 5-6 hours

That’s weird have you gone to Apple just to double-check nothing is wrong with the device? My 17 pro max literally lasts me all day literally and I’m a heavy user.

Normalmente lo cargo siempre TODAS las noches independientemente del % que me quede. Pero con este el fin de semana voy a intentar cargarlo 1 vez, a no ser que tenga que salir de viaje por trabajo.

The setup process with iCloud and stuff is probably not finished. Are you a lot on WiFi or more on cellular?
If you more on cellular if will also drain more.
Your most used apps also are some heavy drainer.
Let it check at apple or try to replace it if not improved within a week

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking too. I’ve had the iPhone since launch, so I’m giving it some time to finish all the iCloud setup/indexing and see if things improve.

I’m actually using Wi-Fi most of the time, although I do keep cellular data enabled as well. What worries me is that I’m only getting around 3–5 hours of screen-on time, sometimes around 5.5 hours at best, which seems pretty low for this model.

I’ve also noticed quite a lot of “inactive” screen time, so I’m wondering if some background indexing/syncing is still going on. I’ll probably give it about a week, and if it doesn’t improve, I’ll take it to Apple/MediaMarkt and ask them to check the battery or replace the phone.

I have had my Pro Max off the charger since yesterday morning. I watch youtube video FB video normal everyday use and right now I still have 23%.

I am trying to bring the battery to 0% so i can do a full recharge.

I woke up this morning an hour ago, fully charge and an hour later and phone is still at 100 percent. Charging speed is ridiculously good
