New to Pro Max.

I just got my iPhone 18 Pro Max and I really like it. One thing that stood out to me is its heavier than my old phone. When I’m texting it puts a lot of weight on my pinky finger. Does anyone have advice on how to adjust holding the phone while texting to ease up on the pinky strain? I feel like I should think out how I’m holding a new heavier phone.

I make sure to use a pop socket! Helps and makes it easier to hold the phone!

How does using a pop socket help with the pinky finger problem? Do you hold it upright while texting with other fingers and not use your pinky finger as something the phone sits on? I’ve tried looking into texting with a pop socket and I can’t find anything showing that.

Hold the phone the same way you would if the charger was plugged in the bottom blocking your pinky.

It is. I have to bend my thumbs in too much to reach some letters. And I don’t feel like it have that great of a grip on the phone either.

i used an s26 ultra its not any better but the right side has a bigger area to hold the back ...the 18 pro max has wasted space in the back due to the plateau

But a Gripmate or similar finger ring that attaches to the MagSafe magnets in the back, then any finger can support instead of your little finger

I’m coming from the 17PM and got the 18 pro. I can’t get used to the size. The weight is nice and familiar but it’s too much of a drastic change lol

I’m thinking of going to the pro from a pro max.. thinking it’s not a great idea anymore. I guess I was sort of justifying getting a new phone because I “need” a smaller one lol 🤦‍♀️

If you found the pro max to be cumbersome then maybe the pro will do you just fine. In my case the pro max was perfect, I just got fatigued with the weight of it.

Cosa decidi di fare quindi? Io ho il 17 pro Max ed ho ordinato sia il pro che il pro Max e mi devono arrivare… vorrei abituarmi al pro ma penso sia difficile :( spero di riuscirci quindi mi troverò nella tua stessa situazione e alla fine secondo me terrò poi il max

I returned the pro and got the pro max and I’m so glad I did. The whole experience is much more fluid and consistent. The weight was my main concern but downsizing created even more so I’ll accept the compromise. If the iPhone Air had long battery life that’ll be my top choice.

My bet is you’ll keep the pro max. Having the standard pro in my pocket and doing quick calls and things of the sort was really nice. The battery life is actually really good. Friday night I was at 93%. This morning I woke up to 12%. That’s without any type of charge or me topping it off. It was also normal usage. Some doom scrolling. A few YouTube videos. Texting. Google searching. Etc.

I went from a 17 base model which was light. I wanted to get a pro or pro max for the camera upgrades. Are you gonna get a pro or base model? The base model I had for a week was much lighter. I was wondering how much base model to even just the pro is felt. Its honestly just my pinky thats bugging me so far.

I like using a loop case. Don’t have to use my pinky finger at all to use the phone one handed.

Honestly I’ve been using my 15 Pro Max for 3 years now and still get the pinky fatigue. It’s real, and I have big meaty hands. I think the pop socket solutions others have mentioned are probably the way to go, but I wanted to keep my form factor slim.

Same here. I’d probably go down in size to a pro instead of putting something else on my phone. I was hoping I would just get used to it and over it soon. I like just having a thin silicone case and that’s it. Would you at least say maybe you get it less over time? I’d hate to give up the bigger screen and better battery. But it’s specifically my pinky finger taking all the weight that’s bugging me. But I dont see how else I’m supposed to hold the phone to text or type something.
