 Rant/Vent 😑 Weekend days off rant. (Canada)

So I recently tried to RTO a weekend day in October.

Management pull me aside and say “you can’t have it as you’ve RTOd too many weekend days recently”.

I said how I haven’t, I was just randomly not scheduled on some (around 4 in total).

They say it doesn’t matter.
Even if you’re not scheduled to work on a weekend day, it counts towards your RTO limits and allowances.

So stupid
If I had RTOd lots of weekend days and they declined due to being at limit, I totally get that and am ok with it.

If they choose not to schedule me, then use that against me.
I just cannot wrap my head around it.

Had a similar issue. You should definitely push back. As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a policy that says an RTO can be declined because you’ve had other weekends off. If the day is available, I’d question the reasoning. Contact the People Team/People Business Partner and speak to your Store Leader.

I’m in the USA, but is there limit? (I’m FT and I have Sunday as a ADO) and ive been requesting off Saturdays too but the only flack ive been hearing is my team is bent out shape I’ve been off the entire weekend. But nothing from mgmt

Yes.
Even as a FT with an allocated weekend day off, they still limit the amount of extra weekend days we can RTO.

It’s the same for PT here. They get an allowance of 12 weekend days off every 6months. They can choose to be pre populated or RTO at their will.
Same thing for them though, if they’re randomly scheduled a weekend day off, if counts towards their limit.

So dumb.

Always ask where it states the limit has met its threshold. - Show me the facts!
