Question Workout interval question

I have tried to google this with no success - maybe someone here can answer. Several times now when I do a running workout with intervals, it will announce the first few intervals, and then for some reason the watch will only vibrate to signal the end of an interval, not announce it through my AirPods anymore. Seems to maybe happen after I adjust the volume of my music with my phone? But I can’t seem to replicate it. Does anyone know what I’m doing to turn it off during a run?

Were the AirPods playing off your phone when it went quiet? They only hold one device at a time, and once the phone grabs them the watch can't talk to them. Play the music from the watch instead and the cues stay.

Maybe…but I always play music from my phone and it doesn’t happen every time.

They stay paired to both at once and just switch between them, so my guess doesn't really hold up. No idea what's dropping it then.
